LGBT and LGBT Supportive Sellers

As long as the animation isn't against Fiverr's rules (shown in the Terms of Service below or the Community Standards at https://www.fiverr.com/community/standards)  those sellers might be breaking Fiverr's TOS by not doing it. Though it might be about who you work with not what you create (but I assume it applies to refusing to do the work where the work would comply with Fiverr's rules). So maybe you could show them the rule below and see if they change their mind. Or create a brief where it will send the brief to multiple sellers or maybe speak to support about it.

Yeah, it’s logo animation for a nonprofit. I worked with the seller on a logo, was happy, wanted to do another one, asked if they had any issues working on a logo for an lgbt nonprofit and was told no as it doesn’t align with their business. So that is a deal breaker for me and I’m now looking at other sellers. Would love to support an lgbt seller with an lgbt project

@dnacens - this is a bit perplexing, I mean how does any one even know if its a LGBT or non LGBT logo, unless its very explicit in nature, I mean you just order a logo and that is all, where does LGBT and non LGBT issues comes in, where exactly is the point of non aligning with business ethics comes in ? pardon my ignorance on the issue as well

Once on another community I had asked, how people who live alone spend their time, either with their kids or wife or do any other activity , I was immediately reminded that all people on the community are not straight and I must keep that in mind while posting, so this seems very opposite compared to what I experienced some where else , any ways hope Fiverr support will sort this out for you ...

Country of the Seller probably also plays a part. In the US, there's a clash between freedom of speech and civil rights. A logo falls under the category of art, and art is considered a form of speech.

I would have loved to be in that thread so as to inform the dummy that challenged you that many gay people have:

1. kids

2. wives

3. Even pets and jobs.

It sounds as if the person trying to reprimand you was a glittering jewel of colossal ignorance.

I wonder if this goes for buyers and sellers.  I was contacted by a buyer who did not want to work with me if I was a Christian.

I find it weird you're having trouble with that. I believe everyone is free to work or refuse to work with whomever they wish, but I also believe it's very stupid to turn down good business for identity reasons, so most of the sellers should want to deal with you.

In other words, you don't need a "xxx friendly" seller, xxx being any cause / group / etc., to get what you need - you just need an "xxx neutral", and those should be the vast majority. Business is business, the subject doesn't really matter.

Now, if you specifically want an LGBT seller for an LGBT project, that's a different story. You're free to prefer that, of course, but then you're putting yourself in the box. I've worked in all kinds of projects with religious, political, commercial views that are not aligned with mine. But, as a seller, mine are irrelevant.

I think that rule would be for both buyers and seller since it doesn't say otherwise in the TOS. If it was just for the religion a person was.

Though if it was about the knowledge of a particular religion a seller had for work related to that then maybe that might be a reason that wouldn't be against the TOS (eg. if a person didn't have knowledge of a particular religion but someone wanted a big article about it then they might want a particular seller who specialised in it).

  • 2 weeks later...

Only time i have faced discrimination of any kind was a person from Cyprus who really really really didint like that i am Turkish.

His insults were not creative and off the target. I was not impressed. Could have done more damage. 1/10

Back to the point; i think you can find someone who has no problem working with your community. Right? I imagine it shouldnt be hard. Its not like you are looking for satanists. They are hard to come by.
