Through one words it's not mandatory. If you are able to reply immediately if a buyer sends you a message, it is better in this situation. And another aspect if you are active you can manage your response rate.

Simply try to show you are Online, whenever prospective buyers message you, immediately you can respond to him/her through Super computer>Laptop>Tablet> or mobile device; that's it.
