Exactly, and because we’re using our money to buy things instead of dealing with credit cards, paypal, etc, Fiverr isn’t paying a fee to process the transaction. So what possible justification can be for the fee other than squeezing us for more money?

Fiverr should be encouraging us to make purchases, this $2 fee does the opposite. Sellers who worked hard to earn their money aren’t eager to pay 40% more every time they make a $5 purchase.

Maybe it’s a way to up the quality. It started as a Fiverr, but eventually quality must go up, and so are the prices. It is how the market works. See how Bitcoin prices skyrocketed. They were pennies back in 2012.

But everyone isn’t offering things for $5, it depends on the gig and the seller. Those who advertise their gigs online and want high conversions can benefit from a $5 price range. Asking people to spend $5 is easier than $50, $100, etc.

There’s some abuse, although I haven’t experienced it much. My trick is not to over promise, if you create high expectations and fail to deliver, clients are more likely to demand revisions, refunds, etc.

Sad reality. Got a response from Fiverr support.

They don’t care anymore. Not only that you have to pay a service fee from your personal shopping balance or your earned balance but you also need to pay as well again the service fee when you cancelled an order and order a new gig. They won’t refund the service fee from a cancelled order and worse you now need to pay again the service fee from finding and purchasing a new gig of same price.

Sorry for the bad experience, I am not sure why you cancelled it but I never let a customer unsatisfied.

There is always a way unless the buyer, made there mind of getting it for free.

I get that Fiverr needs to make money somehow, but they’re already taking 20% from the sellers. Now they’re adding on these $2 charges to every single transaction, and it’s ridiculous. I ordered a gig out of my funds. $2 charge. Got great service from a new seller and decided to tip her. $2 charge. Come on. Stop nickel and diming people.

Wonder what’s the reason behind it, other than to make money? If it’s to prvent people ordering services through tips with lesser fees, surely that can easily be noticed if someone makes large tips regularly.

Yes, totally greed so that’s why they not dare to make an announcement for that, just keep it silently. Such a cheap move IMO.

I was using Fiverr seller’s services from my earning before, with this new fee structure, I’d rather not. This is a principal issue.

1.That is money I have earned. And been taxed by Fiverr already, 20%.

2. I worked with payment processors, no one takes $2 for a $5 transaction. Especially when you are a big customer like Fiverr, offering hundreds of thousands of transactions a day. Normal rate is well below 0.5%, so about 2.5 cents per 5 dollars. (and that is expensive).

3. There is NO payment processing fee from a Fiverr balance. It’s within Fiverr. Banks never charge for in house transactions.

4. In case of a cancellation they are not giving it back? Well, guess what, credit card companies always return all charges in case of a refund. Yes, even their full commission.

I am just hoping they see their dashboards, and see this is not working. I am having less and less orders, and reading the forum I see others have similar issues.

Fiverr, I LOVE you, and I am angry FOR you! To learn from your mistakes and be able to reverse your mistakes.

I don’t like that Fiverr charges a fee for leaving tips. We’re already being nice by paying more, but Fiverr wants us to pay even more on top of that.

Well, at least the people that order just to get free work by requesting a refund at the end, wouldn’t quite like this. I assume that the OP actually, did request a lot of cancellations as he learned this fact.

I am very upset. just ordered 5 usd gig and was made to pay 2usd charge. over 30% service charge. this is the last time i’m ordering from fiver. i’m very pained because i have ordered gigs over 500usd and still use it actively. i guess i’m going back to freelancer or upwork or other sites. I hope you don’t give up on Fiverr. Even with this excessive fee, it’s still more affordable than Fiverr’s competitors.

Besides, everywhere you look, companies are seeking new revenue streams. Netflix is going to start airing commercials. Amazon Prime sometimes has a promo before the movie or TV show starts. Airlines charge for check baggage. Many hotels have a “resort fee.”

I get that buying a $5 fee and then paying $7 is annoying, but on other websites, I bet that same gig costs you $10, $20, or $50, assuming you can find it.

I being one of the best sellers, like many others was earning pretty well here at fiverr, though paying such high fiverr service charges and transactions amount literally was a negative aspect still we (all of us here) overlooked it only because the payment was secure and the number of clients was major but from last 4 months I have got max 4-5 queries, I didn’t know about this new service fee update that surely killed my client base and though I have alternate ways to earn but what about someone who might be spending his/her time working solely over fiverr. His monthly income would have drastically came down to zero from hundreds of dollars. Fiverr we understand your business prospect but you must not forget people either buyer or sellers need seconds to switch platforms, thanks to the Internet generation, we have multiple options at our fingertips, and god forbid if this happens your whole business plan will fall on it’s knees. Remember you are who you are only because of the sellers and buyers here. So If we are respecting your already way too high charges then you must also take care of everything that is going on, because certainly it is not the best direction we all are heading towards.

I agree, and I’m sorry. I’m sorry for your experience, and I’m frustrated that this platform that I love, that changed my life, and that I used to make over $2,000 a month on has changed so much. My revenue is down well over 50%, and it hurts. The saddest thing is that, there’s no reasonable explanation for it. I pray that the owners see what they have done, or someone takes over this company, and returns it to what made it so special in the first place.

I was just about to tip a seller $5, but stopped when I realized that it would cost me $7 to do so, and the seller would only get 57% of what it cost me.

I think it’s a 43% fee on a $5 order right? $5 gig costs buyer $7, $4 of the $7 goes to the seller and $3 of the $7 goes to fiverr. $3 divided by $7 is .43. Seems like alot, which is why fiverr probably wants to discourage $5 sales. Like i said above, I was discouraged from leaving a $5 tip when I realized it would cost me $7 to do so. I don’t mind giving fiverr 20% of everything I earn, but as a buyer the additional fee just feels wrong.
