  1. To me this person looked like she knew what she was doing ( in other words actually having the right skills!) I wanted to help her out. 😄 i hope she makes the necessary changes and gets orders soon.
  2. I'm not sure if "popular" is the right word, but ever since COVID hit I have read everywhere that the number of new sellers joining the platform has gone through the roof, made it all way to the moon and even reached Pluto. I believe data entry is a pretty competitive field too. Not really sure if videos will do anything, but maybe record yourself typing and show off how quickly you can type, say a few words to the camera, that might help? Sadly there are many people who lie about their skills so if you actually show proof that might attract people.
  3. Please allow me to jump on this bandwagon too. I'd really like to ask this question myself. I checked @advanceseonahid's gigs and to be honest it's a bit of a head-scratcher because he claims to be skilled in marketing, and I believe we've seen people like this a lot. He does have a 5 star so that's nice, it does say his English is basic so he's being honest, that's good too. However if he is a marketing expert and his trying is best but not getting sales, something is missing. This is my opportunity to actually ask. It's a genuine question.
  4. I'll have the cheese and sausage ready then! 😄 😄 😄
  5. Quote of the day. Anyway OP, I get the feeling when you say "secret," you meant something like is there a secret to get orders faster/constantly/always appear on the first page? Answer is no, no and no.
  6. I know that was just an example sentence, but when I read that I went, and I literally said out loud, "Huh, that's me." (in Japanese) What you posted up there is great/true/helpful/ and I agree with pretty much everything, but Andy...let's see how many "Thank you for great advice" "Tell me how to get more orders" posts you'll receive in the next 24 hours.😅
  7. Oh, I personally believe you were a smart person to begin with, you actually DID have the base skills! I really appreciate your free answer, and while you might have made some mistakes, I would not put you in the "fake seller" category...never!! Maybe you didn't really know what you can offer but I bet you never thought about stealing other people's gigs or lie about your skills. We all make mistakes at the start, I know I did too, but I do believe that the sellers who eventually achieved a certain level of success were never lazy. You might have been looking for a quick and easy way to get money, but I'm sure you did spend a decent amount of time setting up your gigs! 😉
  8. You know what, I'm kinda tempted to message the two "nice" people above. I can start by asking: 1. What part of it did you find nice? (like @mariashtelle1 said) 2. Is there a reason why you just wrote one word? I mean, if it was "nice," I'd personally write a bit more. 3. Did you do it just to get attention? If so, how do you think it will help you? Stuff like that.
  9. You deserve and award for this, seriously. Thank you, it's good to know that some people are actually doing that!! (Dare I say it makes me proud!!??) You know whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. I'm sure I might get bombarded with spam messages asking for an "interview" if I post this, but hey, I'd gladly pay $50 ( 5 dollars each, asking 10 people!! ) to sit down and ask those questions ALONG with a native level interpreter. I do want to know exactly what they are thinking, why and how did they even think copying is a good idea, and how in the heck were they going to deliver the order when they don't have the skill, and why on earth do they believe that staying online 24 hours is a good idea? I need to hear THEIR words. Again I'm not trying to mean, I really, really want to know what is going on in their minds.
  10. Once upon a time, back when dragons were little, I used to try that. I still do from time to time, but....well, I mean, you know, I kinda stopped. What I still do is report the obvious fake sellers and back in the day they would get banned right away but recently for some reason CS ain't doing anything anymore. For the sellers who beg and ask the same question over and over again "How do I get sales?" who refuses to read and just keep looking for that golden answer/reply that will only take 20 seconds to read, seriously it makes me wonder what is going on in their heads. For example if I chose a random seller who claims to be a professional writer but is clearly not, I want to sit down with them and ask, "how in the heck are you going to write an article for someone if you can't write a single sentence properly?" I just want to know what they will say to me in person. I kinda-sorta ( but at the same time don't want to ) want to know how their minds work. Or at least hear their explanation. I've seen fake writers here in the forum, but usually when I ask that question all they say is thank you for advice.
  11. OK, I was gonna go check her link/profile but not the link is gone. Not surprised. IF this woman's story was indeed true, I hope she can find a job. I really do. However, my spider senses are telling me that it ain't. Alright, time to get to work. You guys all have a good day! 😄
  12. Ooooooh yes, love love LOVE that masterpiece!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  13. Haha, true, "floating" sounds like the entire prison is on a boat! My bad. I'm assuming you've been there too?
  14. Hi there! Wow, 20 is quite a lot, for me I think I got 5~6 a day at most. To answer your question, sadly, YES. We get pleeeeeenty of spam messages here in Fiverrland. Just block/report and move on.
  15. I've heard people say that. It looks like a "swimmable" distance when you see the photos and you think huh, no wonder the inmates thought they can somehow escape, jump into the water and swim away to freedom...only to dr*wn or get sh*t. Ohhhhh yes, the infamous 300 million yen incident!! There were movies and dramas that were made based on that case ( I think it appeared in an anime too once). I guess some lucky dude got away with tons of cash!
  16. Hmmm....I...hate to say this but Japan has had a good number of cases involving concrete...I might have an idea of which one you're talking about 😅 So, have you been to Alcatraz? Is it worth checking out??
  17. YES!! I loved that show and that episode so much. Hmmm...let me make a wild guess...is it about the * cough cough * found in the toilet? BTW I know there were movies about that place and the escape, I think "The Rock" is a famous one too, but I'd never seen those. Maybe I should give it a try. Like @mariashtelle1, I can't really tell when I first heard about the escape, I did watch the Mytbusters episode but I'm sure I already knew about it when that episode aired. I used to live in San Jose which is about an hour away from San Fran but I never went to Alcatraz. I know you have to take the boat to get there, but sadly I have terrible motion sickness, if the boat ride lasts for more than 15 minutes I'm out. 🤮
  18. Greetings fellow Fiverrians. Here's my random post for today. Yesterday I was talking with my student, and somewhere along the line I mentioned Alcatraz. Yup, the famous ( was "infamous" though back in the day though I guess) floating prison of a fortress near San Francisco. My student was into true crime but surprisingly she didn't know about Alcatraz and the case of the three inmates escaping. I somewhat had the impression that it was one of those cases that was well known all around the world. So it made me wonder....How many non-US people here know about the Alcatraz prison break?? Is it more a generation thing? My student is 23 or so, so maybe she's too young. BTW despite the image of Japan being such an oh-so-safe country, we have plenty of freaks in my country too. I wonder if there are any infamous unsolved cases in Japan that are well-known around the world. (I hope this post isn't "inappropriate"... if it is, I apologize in advance to the moderators)
  19. I...sorry, don't know what to say. I'm referring to the post above mine. Harry Potter, where are you. Wave that darn wand of yours and make all the spams go away.
  20. Are they harsh? Oh yes. BUT did I feel the same way as Andy, you betcha. I'm not trying to sound mean, but if you are gonna work at an online platform where the language being used is mainly English, you <<<need>>> to be able to speak/understand the language at a business English level, simple as that. I am guessing that Andy got frustrated because we've seen way too many sellers begging for orders while claiming to be professional translators, writes and it says on their profile that their English is fluent, but clearly they are NOT. @katakatica was being very polite and choosing her words carefully and while I do believe that approach is more appropriate, I get the feeling maybe, just maybe the OP won't get it, IE, won't take her words seriously believing that his English is OK. Sadly it's not. I'm an English conversation teacher myself, and the OP's post was very hard to understand. Andy was being a bit too straightforward, yes, but there isn't a nice way of saying "Sorry you suck." (pardon my language). Perhaps in some cases it's somewhat better if you don't sugar coat your words. But then again, if you sound too harsh, people will get upset and won't listen. OK, I don't know what I'm trying to say here, but at least I think it's clear what the OP needs to do. Finally, it seems like the post has been deleted, but I'm very curious to see what the "flying spaghetti monster" looks like.
  21. This whole " post on social media" thing is getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too old. I mean I guess it can work if you're doing it the right way, but has this method ever worked before??
  22. Sadly there are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many people who simply refuse to skip this very simply yet important step called "reading." (BTW I won't be surprised if someone asked who "Pete" was. )
  23. It's not a costume but I did make a kimono out of Halloween patterned fabric. I also have a pretty decent collection of Halloween jewelry ( pumpkin/ghost earring, brooches), and also neckties. Now that it's November, not sure what to wear...I can't find any turkey jewelry for Thanksgiving. Turkey ain't popular in Japan sadly. I wonder if I can find any Thanksgiving jewelry in the states...
  24. Fiverr has been adding all these "fees" which I don't like, ( the worst is the transaction fee when giving a tip!) but the one thing Fiverr has NOT done is to charge us for using this platform. No monthly fees of any sort. So in other words, even if I stop getting orders I still don't have to pay anything. Sales have been a bit low for me for the past few months, but I don't see myself quitting Fiverr because when the order comes, they come. My translation gig is my most popular gig, my illustration gig gets orders here and there, and I have several others gigs where I rarely get orders, but I don't delete them because I don't have to pay for it. If you are making enough money outside Fiverr and you're too busy, I think quitting is an option, but it won't hurt to keep the account. Why quit? True, they are scammers here and I'm sure we all have several good stories to tell, but we all need to deal with annoying stuff when working. 😅
  25. Well in my case I eat BOTH a proper meal and chocolate. 😎 Hey, I need my deserts and munchies!
