  1. Oh god I really had to sit down and think about this. If I ask around I'd like to believe that some of my friends will point out "Well, you did this and this and this and this!" but honestly speaking I can't really come up with anything from the top of my head! Then I read Andy's post. Please pardon me, I am NOT trying to turn this post into a sob story or anything. About a year ago we let a stray cat in the house. He was dirty and skinny, we knew that even if we took him inside the house he won't last for long but we didn't care. He looked like a pretty old fellow and we wanted to make sure he can be in a safe warm place. He was the sweetest little old dude, loved that guy to bits. Sadly he crossed the rainbow bridge early this morning, and I am glad to say that he was not alone, he was not outside in the cold starving when that happened. He was with me. He was lying next to me, pretty much breathing right into my face, to be exact. So I guess I can say that I felt proud that I was given the honor to send him off to feline heaven. I'll see him on the other side along with my other furry family in about 50 years or so. Yeah, I'm the crazy cat person! So just to lighten the mood...hmmmm. There has to be something I can be proud of. I already hand-sewn a kimono earlier this year, but I made another one, it had a Totoro on it ( if you guys don't know what Totoro or Studio Ghbili is, shame on youuuuuuu!!). I used a curtain fabric I bought from the official Ghibili online store. I think I posted it a while ago somewhere in the forum?? I went to San Diego comic con wearing that thing, and I went to a Ghibli panel and I was showered with praise from the staffs and the producer. That made me proud.
  2. GOD, I so wish we can do this. We need to make sure we pause our gigs though, it will be kinda awkward if we got all together in the grand party hall all dressed up on the first evening with drinks in our hands ready to say cheers when someone in the crowd gets the notification POP! from Fiverr telling him/her that an order has been placed!
  3. More than 10 years ago. Dang, time sure does fly.
  4. I've seen photos of the Christmas markets, they look breathtakingly insanely out-of-this-world beautiful. I need to go there someday. I bet it's WAY colder than Tokyo though, I'll need to make sure my hot wine glass is always full!!!
  5. This is gonna sound silly, but I'm with Andy here, the winning ticket to the Lotto. I don't need/want 50 million dollars, that's too much. I don't even need 5 million. 500K will be more than enough, that sounds like a very nice price, but not high enough to make me go crazy. I don't have plans on going on a shopping spree, I'll be saving most of it anyway. Hey Santa, don't look at me like that...I was only being honest. Besides, I'll be donating a handsome amount to cat and dog shelters for sure! So if I had to pick something besides cash/or the winning lotto.... hmmmm....I don't need a car. I don't need a Gucchi bag, I don't need Jimmy Choo's heels ( I can't walk in those damn things anyway), I don't need a new laptop because my current one works just fine. You know what, it will be great if I can have a fancy cruise Christmas party with my Fiverr buddies. We all dress up, eat, drink, talk, laugh, eat and drink some more. I know this will be quite hard because we all live around the globe, but dang, won't that be fuuuuuuun.
  6. Ummmmm...so you have a dog who loves peeing on snow?? If so, pics please!! (the dog of course, not the pee)
  7. NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!! I wish I can shout this from the top of Mt.Fiverr. NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!! Pardon for sounding snobby but I'm a TRS, I've been working on Fiverr for over 10 years, and I DO NOT stay online, but I still get sales. Why? Because I am honest, I did my research before starting, and I have decent skills. Again, I repeat. NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!!NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!!NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!!NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!!NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!!NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!!NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!!NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!!NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!!NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!!NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!!NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!!NO NEED TO STAY ONLINE!!!!!!!! ** this message will self destruct in 10 seconds, abort abort abort KABOOOOOOOOOM
  8. Oh my, this looks like a delicious thread to go through...😍 However I'm sorry King Mooch, I need to finish some work first, once those are cleared I'll come back to this post and read through everything with a cup of coffee and some munchies. (a lovely seller gave me a tip yesterday, so Starbucks time! )
  9. Hot chocolate, check. Hot mulled wine, check check! Hot pot, sukiyaki, lasagna right out of the oven, check check check!! Jumping into bed after taking a hot bath ( with a cat sleep under my armpit) check check check check! Winter is also oyster season, I'll be going to an oyster bar with my buddies. For New Years I think I'll have a takoyaki party. It's all about the fooooooooooooooooooooooood. And snuggling with cats.
  10. Since I don't show a photo of my face ( even if I did, I ain't a super model so I'll be fine 😛 ) and I offer translations/illustrations I've never received messages from guys that tried hitting on me, also because of my Fiverr name people just assume I'm a dude. I have read here on the forum a few times in the past about certain female sellers getting creepy messages though. It's not just here at Fiverr, sadly things like this happen everywhere. At least we have the report/spam button!
  11. I don't think there's anything wrong, I guess it's just that Fiverr chooses the TRS people randomly...but I might be wrong. 😅
  12. Within 24 hours. It took MUCH longer to set up my gigs though.
  13. Hmmmm.. OK, this is NOT technology, but rental video stores. I know it's all Netflix, Hulu, Amazon etc and they are all great, but as a kid I loved going to those stores with my mom and picking out the movies I wanted to watch. As a college kid Friday night was movie night and I'll go the Hollywood Videos and Blockbusters with my friends, rent a movie, order pizza, and have fun. 🙂 OK, an actual "technology" that I miss...hmmmmmmmmmm....................I don't miss floppy disks...now typewriters I do miss, I love that ka-ching sound, especially those black and gold antique typewriters are gorgeous. I never owned one but we used to have one at school.
  14. True, but funny thing is back in Japan a LOT of us still use a lot of cash. not sure why though, I myself carry cash too. 😅
  15. In Japan as SOON as Halloween is over, it's all Christmas mode. For me, November is Thanksgiving ( at least in my head) so my mind won't be going Ho Ho Ho just yet...but yeah, everything around me is all red, white and green. Starbucks started their Christmas edition and the cups have cute Christmas patterns on them, and there's this thing called the cranberry bliss bar and I eat them every year. They are already available at any Starbucks in Japan, but I personally need to wait till December. 😄 I've been making ginger bread houses and wreaths for the past few years using Daiso materials, I'm sure I'll be making them soon. As for Christmas movies...I don't really watch Christmas movies but I really enjoy watching Youtube movie critics making fun of bad Christmas horror movies! Such a joy(!!?) to watch!
  16. Oh my~~~ thank you! I'm so flattered. 😃
  17. I guess Vickie pretty much said everything that needs to be said. I'm not sure what you were looking for when you joined Fiverr, were you hoping to make it into a full time job?? If so, I'm afraid that's not appearing in your gigs. I'm gonna pull a @jonbaas here and say what have you done to market your gig after creating it? 2 months can be seen as both long and short, but did you market your gigs? Did you try reaching out to your target audience? Or did you just create your gigs and wait, hoping that someone will pay attention to it? If it's the latter, you might be in the wrong place. It IS possible to get orders constantly without promoting your gigs at all, but I believe in most cases you need to do much more after creating them.
  18. I guess free demons CAN be OK depending on the gig, but in my case it's a huge no-no. All I need to say to the potential buyer is "I don't give away free work because it will be unfair towards the other buyers who has paid. If you would like to see them I can send examples of my past work, that should be enough to at least give you an idea." This usually works. I say the same thing when buyers ask for discounts too.
  19. Hey that sounds great to me! When I first started Fiverr more than 10 years ago, I made juuuuust a bit extra on the side so I can go to Starbucks. Now it covers part of my bills/rent etc, in some good months it can cover my entire rent, it just goes up and down, just like and business I guess. Fiverr needs to make this into a banner and place at the front page of the site... Maybe just go ahead and create the gig, keep it for several months and see how it goes? There are plenty of off-putting stuff but overall I believe it's worth giving it a try. You always have the option of deleting/pausing your gig too. It looks like you're doing pretty good, why wouldn't you recommend it? It is your choice of course, but I'm just curious!
  20. I actually had another coworker who seemed interested in joining a while ago ( he can draw) but one time we were talking about gigs in the break room when another coworker came in and she heard our conversation. She said something along the lines of "Oh Fiverr, I know that website...I thought that site sucked, just a bunch of amateurs and scammers, right?" That worried my coworker immediately and he ended up not creating an account 😅 I told him that while there are a good number of scammers you'll see plenty of skilled people, but sadly he backed off. Well, I guess I can't blame him. Now this other new coworker who is in the process of creating his own gig seems OK with it,his attitude was "meh, scammers are everywhere, I'm sure FIverr is no exception." ...That's...the spirit...?
  21. So a friend of mine at work heard about Fiverr and since he can speak 3 languages he decided to open an account and create a gig. He's still in the process, apparently he's having problems uploading images etc. Since he is a friend and I actually know that he has the skills to succeed, I've been force feeding all the information that will help him. I know I know, I am usually the "you're a grown adult, do all the reading and do your own darn research yourself and don't expect people to spoon-feed you the info" type of person. While I am shoving all the info down his throat, he is able to handle all of them very well, he asks good questions, takes notes etc, he has of course done his own research, asked for my honest feedback, etc. Bottom line is I am helping him because I know he's skilled and he will do well for sure. In fact if I get several messages all at once from a potential client, I'll refer my buddy to some of them. I guess giving my friend a little boost at the start won't hurt. I'm curious, how many of YOUR friends actually started Fiverr after seeing your success here? When I say "sucess," it can be from just making a bit extra on the side, all the way up to actually making a living. Did you force-feed all the info like I did simply because they are your friend? Did they succeed?
  22. I never used BR, so fortunately for me that being gone has zero influence on me. So let's see, to answer your question...I don't have a fancy answer, October was very normal for me, not overly good, not terribly bad, I'm not those Fiverr super sellers who makes thousands each month, but I think I did fine. Maybe a biiiit lower than the previous year? November is going pretty fine so far, I'm getting several orders from my repeat buyers so I hope it stays this way. Not sure what will happen next month, I might get a few illustration orders for Christmas cards, or translate Christmas messages. Let's see how things go. 🙂
  23. I hope I don't come across as being mean, but I need to point this out because I've seen this way too many times on the forum; One of your gigs is a social media marketing, which means you know a lot about marketing? You should be using your skills and experience to get more potential buyers to find your gig. Also like Vickie mentioned above, why don't you have any sample images for your Youtube thumbnail gig? If you have the experience and are a professional graphic designer, I am sure you have a lot of images from your past work, you need to show them off to your potential buyers! 🖥️✒️🖌️
  24. I think your description looks better, but I'll ask one of the talented designers here ( or outside if you know anybody) to create your thumbnail image. I believe you are more than qualified and you know what you're doing, but your gig image doesn't seem to be at the same level. It might be worth hiring a good graphic designer 🙂
  25. I have to agree with Andy's comment, I do point out in my gig to contact me first before placing an order, but I don't start the sentence with "Don't place an order," I use bold fonts and say "Please contact me first." I also mention the same message in my gig description. There will be people who will not read and still place an order though, sadly that's how things are at times. Also it might be a good idea to add one more sample image.
