  1. In your translation gig description, this is what it says (I copy/pasted it directly BTW) : English to Italian and Italian to English!. .....and it says you offer proofreading too. Notice anything? It seems like you've failed to proofread your own description.
  2. WAY too often, sadly. Like yours, the messages starts with a Hi Hi sir (I ain't a dude...) Hi dear ( this makes me cringe each time) I know it's a typo but I also had a "Ho." The sender must be Santa or watched too much of Thunder Cats episodes back in the 80's. They say they need work/money and shocking they say they can do a great job with it. When I ask them if they can speak Japanese at a native level, they will say stuff like "No." "Not yet." Usually around here I slip into a short coma.
  3. GOD this was such fun to read!! Eeeeevery now and then I will try to pull an Alex, TRY to help people but it's becoming very rare recently. I guess we call it "giving up." We need more Alexes, but sadly there are way too many Hans and Minskys and Jamals out there. BTW I know a "Bob" in real life, he was my college teacher and an amazing artist/illustrator who worked on Shrek, Harry Potter and Van Helsing just to name a few films. He studied and drew his butt off and earned his success through pure hard work. I'm glad my teacher Bob is living a great life. I think this was my favorite part🤣🤣🤣
  4. Well I have no experience in the AI field, but this sounds nice to me. If you would have told me that it was a real human's voice, I'd believe you. I guess AI can be used as a useful tool, you just need to use it correctly and know what to do in order to make it sound natural and non-robotic. This can be cool but as a translator and illustrator, it does still worry me a bit. 😅
  5. Ohhhhh that sounds quite familiar. They completely choose to ignore my price and say "Lower it to $40" "There was another seller offering it for $30" "Give me a better price" etc etc. It's simple, I just say I cannot lower my price because it's unfair towards the other buyers who has agreed to pay in full. That's all I need to tell them, if they don't like it, it's their problem!
  6. OH GOD BIG BIG mistake! I used to do that myself!! I was having lower back problems for a while ( well, duh...) and I finally noticed hey, I need a better chair. I'm just so dumb, it took me that long to reach that conclusion. I went to the furniture store and checked out the "office" section and I saw 10~12 chairs lined up and decided to test-sit. I was ready to pay $200 max, but surprise surprise, when I saw down on this particular chair, it hugged my bum-bum perfectly and it was only $40 shockingly! I bought it right away and I'm kicking myself for not getting it earlier. So...aside from the chair, how do I take care of myself, you ask? Well fortunately I know when to say "No" and stop myself from overworking. Well, sort of. I used to be reaaaally bad at this, but I think I'm doing better. I make sure to get myself some nice munchies when taking a break along with a nice hot cup of coffee, but I'd say treating myself to a massage after work on Sunday evenings is what really helps. There is this massage place near my office and I think the price is reasonable. For some reason they play 70's ~90's American pop/light rock but hey, I don't mind listening to Abba's Dancing Queen, Bruce Hornsby's The Way it Is, and Phil Collins while getting the knots in my back destroyed 😄
  7. So far NONE of them were a match. It'll keep coming, I'm OK, maybe one day this thing called a miracle might happen and I'll get something that actually is a match. Not expecting much though!
  8. I actually never paid attention to that, in fact I didn't know it existed till today! So I got curious and checked....I was at 77. I'm cool, 7 is one of my lucky numbers anyway. 🤣
  9. I've been on Fiverr for over 10 years now, and sadly, the answer is yes. Back in the day the very common problem was simply copying/pasting/stealing EVERYTHING ( gig title, image, description) from popular sellers. Nowadays the fake sellers are taking snippets of other seller's description from here and there, and then pasting them all together not realizing that the description gets inconsistent. One time I found this dude who copied descriptions from at least 3 sellers, and it said something like "I have 4 years of experience..." at the start, and somewhere in the middle it said "with over 10 years of experience..." Some people are just dumb. Also logo designs were "big," there were thousands and thousands of "professional" logo designers and all they did was steal images from Google. I guess these guys are still around. Another one of course is translation. The one big problem is that some fake sellers create an account, they will BUY a few reviews as a jump start, and a while later other non-suspecting buyers are lured in because they see those glowing "Top quality! Will buy again!" comments. Sadly those buyers don't take the extra step of asking other people to proofread the translated files. Those youtube videos where they say "Make money on Fiverr with ZERO skills" ain't helping either. Some people seriously think that's true.
  10. Now this is where I should say something like Hey~ don't say that~~, that's mean~!! .....but I must admit, I love fried chicken. The Japanese style "tatsuta" fried chickens are to...die for??
  11. If you had recorded that thing and posted it online, it would have gone viral!! Jokes aside, poor guy, he was so scared. I salute your patience and compassion, the world needs more people like you.
  12. "Little" as in he was able to fit easily on the palm of my hand. 🙂 I guess that counts as small? I don't mind snakes, in fact I have no problem wrapping them around my arm/neck as long as it doesn't squeeze me to death like that anaconda movie or bite me. 😅 And yes, the Gecko does indeed have great insurance! I think I've been seeing that commercial for over...20 years??
  13. I went to work like I always do, and during my short break I decided to go to the restroom... and saw something moving on the floor. To my surprise it was a green-ish gray-ish gecko. He looked pretty cute BTW. It was walking around near the women's restroom on the 7th floor and on the 6th floor is a cram school for kids. I was worried that some girl/woman will see it and scream, or worse, some mean kid will throw something at it or even kill it. (How did he get to the 7th floor though!!!??) It took me a good minute or so to gently catch the little guy, wrap him with my hands, and I hurried down the stairs and ran outside. I wanted to go to this park but that was about 5 minutes away and I didn't have enough time. I ran to this empty parking lot surrounded by bushes, and decided to place the guy there. I opened my hands....and was shocked to see that the gecko's tail had been cut off. I know that this happens to lizards and geckos, they ditch their tails in order to escape. The poor little guy was so scared he decided to lose its tail. I felt so bad for the guy. At least I know it will grow back later on. I gently placed the gecko down on the bush, and after he stood there for a few seconds (it looked like he was enjoying the sunlight), then slowly crawled away. I'm glad I was able to save this little guy BUT. 1. I saw the tail wiggling on its own for a few seconds, that kinda freaked me out. 2. There was a drop of gecko blood on my hand. That didn't freak me out, but I felt so bad. It's OK, he's safe now. At least it's much better than being lost in an office building. Guys, if you encounter a random little creature, be nice to them.
  14. I hope the same thing is going on in ANY universities/schools around the world!!

    Help

Well, what a surprise!! When I saw the title I immediately thought "meh, it's just another help me get sales" post, but then I saw @theratypist's name so I had to click on it. I am VERY glad to be able to say that I haven't gotten much "give me work" messages that much recently, so I feel really bad for @breals!! Even during my spam prime I got only 10 messages a week. I love your "LOL" response though, I'm using that from now on!! 😄
  16. Hmmm, interesting. I offer anime-chibi style images ( which means they have a huge head and small body), and the reason I chose to offer those styles were because they tend to be easier/faster to draw. I majored in art/illustration and did figure life drawing every week with a live model, ( we had to hand in 50 drawings each week! ) so we learned about the human anatomy as well. This post is making me think, maybe I should add a new gig for drawing more realistic figures with accurate anatomy, but I know already that the price isn't going to be low, and it will take muuuuch longer. 😅
  17. Somebody needs to make a movie about this!!! Maybe a new TV series called "The Chatting Dead." You know whaaaaaat, good point. I can't believe I missed that. All the reliable sellers I've seen here don't call themselves expert, they have their own smart and creative way of letting people know that they know what they are doing!
  18. I know the darn thing is everywhere, but how did you figure out that it was chatgpt? I'm quite curious. I don't want to sound like a dumb @$$, but I couldn't tell at all to be honest. 😅
  19. Hello, There were situations where a buyer bought the same/similar services as the one they provide for whatever reason. For example I am a translator and I was asked to translate something by another translator, but he clearly explained why he was asking me to work on it, and his explanation made sense to me. I'm not sure why this person is wanting to place an order from you, what you can try is to let him/her know that you are aware that you both offer the same services, and that you are a little curious as to why he/she is interested in placing an order. Be sure to sound friendly though. You can decide what to do after the person replies. If you sense something fishy, just politely decline.
  20. Hi there, We all have our ups and downs, and this is nothing normal. I've been on Fiverr for over 10 years, and right now as I am typing this I am going through somewhat of a "dry-up"period and it's been going on for about a month or so. I do get orders here and there, but the numbers have dropped quite a lot. I'm not worried or anything though, it happens.
  21. Google translation sucks, but there is this other free translation site you can use that apparently uses AI. I checked it myself and while it is MUCH better than Google, it is far from perfect. Again though, it is better than Google. The past 2 months I am getting way less translation orders, maybe this was the reason?? I haven't updated my gig description in a very long time, but maybe I'll add "I DO NOT USE AI!!!!" at the top. 😅
  22. HEAR HEAR HEAR HEAR HEAR!!!!! ( please imagine me shouting this from the top of Mt.Fiverr)
  23. Hear, hear! (in my fake British accent. Dunno why, I feel like British accent sounds better for this line)
  24. Hmmm, I do understand @vickieito that you're going with the "benefit of the doubt" route, but in the OP's case it doesn't really seem to apply. Now I CAN say that she is not trying to be intentionally dishonest with malicious intent, I've seen a good number of people here who seriously believed their English was OK ( even though it was quite bad...), or in worse cases they didn't think that lying was wrong. Their reactions were something along the lines of "Oh I was just trying to make my profile look good," "Oh was that a mistake? I thought if I said my English was fluent, that will bring in more sales." They simply didn't think that it was a mistake, or they were just too desperate to a point where they didn't/couldn't care. Even after the OP reads everything you typed for her, I don't think she will understand, sadly. Now there IS a possibility that she is working in a team and someone can actually speak and understand English at a native level, but I kinda...doubt it. Sorry. I get this 1000000%, so many of us didn't really know how to handle things and made mistakes along the way, but the difference between you/other new sellers who eventually found success here and the other "help me get sales" sellers is that there was this basic understanding of how business works. Or maybe it's not even about business, dare I say, "common sense?" When people pointed out the mistake you made, you took it seriously, understood what you need to do, and made improvements. I can tell you're trying to help her out, I do hope the OP reads it. OK sorry, I'm not sure if I'm getting my point across clearly, but heck, here it is. 😅 On a completely random note, I accidentally sliced my finger last night and boy did it bleed. Guys, be careful when you handle sharp objects. 😅
  25. Here's the thing, @breals and @newsmike's replies MIGHT come across as being mean to SOME people. Do I think it's mean?? Of course not. you're not supposed to lie. Guys, seriously, before asking yourselves why you are not getting orders, ask this: Am I qualified, and do I know what I am doing?
