  1. I've reported sellers maaaany times before, I tried confronting one too, she just blocked me so I reported her. Sadly she is still around.
  2. Japanese and English. I should have taken basic Spanish classes in college, but my excuse was "I've suffered enough with English, I know two languages already so that should be enough." Being able to speak a different language is great though, here's a little something that happened to me several years ago ( and pardon me if I have mentioned this story before): During December I was at Starbucks, and I was wearing my candy cane earrings, Christmas tie, and “ugly” Christmas vest ( I bought it at Claire’s 3 years ago and it lights up). In case you’re wondering, not many people would dress up like that in Japan but since I like to entertain my students at work, I choose to dress in a certain way. I’m pretty sure I stood out, standing in line waiting for my coffee. Then I heard these two guys talking in English, and basically one guy was commenting on how ridiculous I looked, and the other guy looked a bit upset and was telling him to stop saying rude stuff. Judging from their accents, they sounded like Americans. Well excuse me for looking like a walking Christmas tree. Dude, this is Tokyo, there are PLENTY of people who can speak and understand English. I got my coffee and as I was walking away when I heard the guy saying something like hey, the Christmas girl is leaving. So I went up to them and thanked the @$$ hole for all the lovely compliments, and also added that he looked "disgustingly handsome in his knit cap with a f*cking hole" in it. In English of course. The dude sat there with his mouth opened while the other guy burst out laughing. I waved at the nicer guy and he wished me a Merry Christmas. Well thank you, sir. The other guy can go screw himself. That was fun. Not trying to high-jack this thread or anything, but if you guys have a “They didn’t know I understood what they were saying” story, I'd like to hear them.
  3. Dang it, don't tempt me! I'll end up showing up at your doorstep for Thanksgiving dinner, and you can teach me how to use the sewing machine AFTER I recover from the food coma 🤣BTW just to let you know, my sewing machine skills were so bad my home and economics teacher pretty much gave up on me. And oh, not sure if this can be seen as a "goal," but I've been growing my hair out so I can donate it. My hair is down to my waist now, I guess I can chop it off this year!
  4. Um, ahem, one, do you have a photo of you wearing a tux eating dinner at a restaurant while the rest of your family were in t shirts and jeans, and two, will you be willing to share that photo with us!? 🤣🤣
  5. Let's see.... 1. Stay alive and healthy. I've made it this far and survived the pandemic, I'm gonna stay healthy till the end. 2. Keep my TRS status just because. I'm not trying to increase my number of orders, but I'd like to maintain a certain number. 3. My friend told me that he is ready to adopt a cat, so I need to teach him everything he needs to know in order to become the best cat dad. 4. Try drawing more personal stuff that is unrelated to work. 5. TRY to learn how to use the sewing machine...?
  6. Augh, ahem, no, once I realized that the chunk of meat was a squirrel, I decided to walk away and let the vulture enjoy his lunch. I felt bad for the fluffy tailed guy, but hey vultures gotta eat too. So far I've seen the vulture only once so I guess he's not a residential bird. I did see a rabbit in the yard though, I hope he stays safe. HAHAHAHA OMG I didn't notice the typo!! I'm not a huge Star Trek fan, but if they really created a series called Stat Trek, I'd watch it!! This is what I drew BTW:
  7. OK, aaaaand I'm back. I finished the translation, worked on an image, I also made a hair stick in the shape of a mushroom because why the heck not, and I finally got the chance to sit down and read through the post 🙂 Forum activity Gig price Type of gig(s) offered Seller/gig professionalism The performance/number of other sellers in your category So many other awesome TRS people already posted their replies and I am a bit late showing up so I'll keep it short and sweet. Forum activity? I doubt it. However I've seen strange/intense/ugly drama unfold here at the forum in the past so I won't be THAT surprised if Fiverr decided not to promote the people who started the drama...but again, I'm sure the forum isn't that important. Gig price? Nah, don't think so. Types of gigs offered...maaaybe? I guess? Seller professionalism, absolutely. The performance/number of other sellers in your category...this I have no idea. I know that there are Japanese/English translators that are TRS sellers here, but does that matter, not sure. OK, I'm reading back at what I've typed and i feel like I didn't contribute aaaaanything to the thread!! All my other fellow Fiverrians have said what needs to be said. I'll finish my post with this random thing I saw today: I saw a vulture eating a squirrel in my friend's backyard in California. It's the first time to see an actual living vulture (I've only seen them in old western movies) I know I'm sounding mean but vultures are not......attractive birds, they look like they have third degree burns on their heads!! The wing spam was quite impressive though.
  8. Pardon me for being late for the game, and dang, I'm bummed I missed this thread...I've been quite busy in and outside Fiverr. I need to take my time and read through everything while sipping wine or something. BUT I need to finish work first, I'll be back in a few hours! I can sense that this is one of those threads that are actually veeeeery fun to read OK, I'll be back. I need to work on a translation and also draw this dude as a Stat Trek character.
  9. I have to say blue. I wear other colors too, but blue for sure. I have a good number of rings with different stones, but my favorite is this gorgeous deep blue lapis lazuli ring. LOVE the color!! I also have a blue topaz ring, love that sky blue color on that one too!
  10. I watch silly youtube videos while sipping on some wine, sometimes hot chocolate 😄 Or have ice cream. Having ice cream late at night is a guilty pleasure for sure!
  11. Mushrooms. Mushrooms. Mushrooms!!!! My friend once said why in the heck would I want to eat a fungus, but I don't care. MUSHROOMS!! MUSHROOOOOOMS!!!!!! Pizza ain't pizza without mushrooms!! Mushrooms, cheese, and basil. That's all I need. Now in Japan we have these "weird" pizza toppings that does not exist outside Japan, but the nori and mochi with the teriyaki chicken pizzas are good too. But yeah, I still want mushrooms more!!
  12. I've been away from the forum for the past several days since I was busy, but here I am, I'm back. I'm not sure what is seen as "too much time" on the forum, but I'm sure I spend a good amount here. It does take some time recently to look for topics that does interest me, but when I do it's fun. I come here a lot when I am taking a break at work. I've been hanging out in the forum long enough to a point where I see some of the forum visitors as my Fiverr buddies, and I'd love to meet them in person some day or at least have a chat online or something someday.
  13. It's amazing how we react to tans differently? As mentioned there are plenty of girls who wouldn't mind getting a tan, but I guess the majority wants to stay pale. I don't mind the tab, but I DO mind the sun sadly. When I go to the office I get into a silly "argument" on whether we close the blinds or not. I just hate the sun in my face, and now I'm being called a vampire, hehehe. BTW if I can customize a flying parasol, it will look like this for sure.
  14. True, people with pale/fair skin was seen as rich people who didn't have to go outside and work, but a lot of people still believe that fair skin is a sign of beauty. I will point out of course that there are plenty of people prefer getting a tan because it looks healthy/athletic. One thing is that it's not that people don't want to get a tan or want to keep their skin pale, they want to prevent themselves from getting freckles when they get older, and they believe that protecting their skin from the sun is the best way to prevent that. On the other hand there are people like me who juuuuuuuuust don't want the sun in their faces. Yeah I hear you, I do want to keep both of my hands free if I can...I hope someone will invent a flying/floating parasol with no handles in the future.
  15. Recently in Japan we see a lot of umbrella-parasols that can be used for both purposes/weathers. I always keep a small one in my bag. The rainy season is coming next month AND the sun is gonna get too bright for a lot of us. The weather keeps switching back and forth especially in June! 😄 In Montana, do people use actual "parasols?" Nah I'm OK, she was just sitting there at the street corner shouting. If she actually got up and started following me as she yelled, that would've been quite annoying. This is a random photo I found online, and yup, this is an everyday thing back here:
  16. Well, I haven't updated/changed ANYTHING on my profile for a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery long time, in fact I might have not touched it for 10 years! I have changed my prices/gig descriptions here and there, but even that was more than 3 years ago I think. My sales has been consistent all these years so I guess it doesn't matter that much, especially if you have a certain number of orders already??
  17. So in Japan, a LOT of people uses a parasol when they go outside especially during the summer. It's normal back here, and I use it too. The reasons are different, some people don't want to get a tan, in my case the sun is just too darn bright, and since my skin is sensitive I can't wear sunblock. People might say hey, just wear a hat and sunglasses, but for me and many others, simply having a round decent-sized shade above my head is nice. It covers my shoulders and arms too. It does make a difference. This seems to be a Japan thing, and last summer when I was in Seattle I was walking outside with my parasol, and some lady who was clearly high on something kept shouting IT'S NOT RAINING!! IT'S NOT RAAAAIIINIIIIIING!! to me. Ma'am I can hear you. No need to shout. I was aware, yes, of all the people on the streets, I was the only one with a parasol. I'm sure I stood out in an odd way. After I came back to Japan I told a coworker from LA about this, and he said the only time he'd see a person with a parasol when it's not raining is an Impressionism painting. Or some historical drama of Victorian ladies taking a stroll. So here's a question to my non-Japanese forum buddies, have you ever used a parasol? Do you know anyone who does? I'm curious.
  18. Soooooo, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of doughnuts do you like? I like the old-fashioned doughnuts with nothing on it (might be boring for some people but I like how simple it is) and the ones with strawberry-chocolate coating on top. Love the ones with whipped cream inside too. Congrats on becoming a TRS, you deserve it!! 😄 😄
  19. Your profile has several spelling mistakes, and for me personally that is enough to make me say "Nope, not gonna order from this guy." If you are thinking anything like "Hey, it's just a few words and I am getting my point across, who would care about some spelling errors here and there?" Trust me, many people will. ANYONE looking for professional service will. Just the fact that you failed to double/triple check your description will come across as being unprofessional.
  20. I happen to know two Clints. One is of course the one and only Clint Eastwood, the other is my good friend Clint (who is Asian American).
  21. I've worked on a lot of stuff that were strange, but here at Fiverr one order still stands out in my mind after all these years. I've posted this story several years ago so here's a slightly shorter version. Basically this guy was having problems with his Japanese girlfriend, since his Japanese wasn't that good, and the girl didn't speak English that well either. He wanted to express his honest feeling to her so he asked me translate a letter for him so I did. Several days later I get another order, he asked me to translate a Japanese letter written by her. I did exactly that. So this went back and forth for several times, and it did feel a bit strange being in the middle of this couple whom I've never met. It didn't take a while for the couple to start getting angry at each other, and the letters got angry too. The guy made it clear that he wanted the translation to sound equally angry so he could get his point across, so I followed his request. The girl replies in an equally angry language, so I translated it while making sure to maintain the angry tone. At one point I started enjoying this, looking forward to reading/translating the next angry letter. Those two were at each other's throats!! One thing I'd like to point out is that while I was enjoying this process, I made sure to stay professional. I made the translation as close to the original as possible, I didn't exaggerate anything. I can't remember how many letters I translated in the end, but lemme tell ya it was a LOT. In the end the guy thanked me, he was very polite towards me from start to finish, and I made a lot of money. So I ain't complaining. I am guessing that they broke up after that, but I hope they both moved on and found another partner.
  22. This. THIS!!! I also checked the OP's gig and it was very clear that she knows what she is doing and has the right experience. It shows in the gig description etc. Good luck and I hope you continue getting orders 😄 (and you MIGHT get spammy messages from other desperate buyers due to this post, just a heads up...)
  23. Could you PLEASE look for it, and post it here?
  24. Looking good! My eyes went straight to your South Park shirt🤣🤣 Awwwweee, you look so cute. Love the little curls in your hair too. I haven't done anything crazy with my hair, but right now I'm growing it out so I can donate it. It's almost down to my waist. I was blessed with a monstrous amount of thick Asian hair, and I've broken several plastic combs, at least 2 banana clips, butchered countless bobby pins, and bent a metal hair stick. When I got a massage several years ago the massage therapist told me that "of her 17-year-career, it was heaviest and thickest ponytail she has ever touched." One time my mother was cutting some branches in the yard and I was helping her when she accidentally dropped a huge branch on my neck, and my ponytail absorbed all the shock/weight and I felt nothing. That reminded me of a story of this lady on the Titanic who got hit in the head with the boat's propeller but she survived because she had thick hair and it was in a bun. Guys, grow your hair out. It might save your life. Sorry OP, I got off topic!! 🤣
