Plus it was always so painful to get it stable, regardless of GPU.

That’s my main workstation and it sports an i7 6950X Extreme (10 cores) and 64 GBs or RAM.

I am looking to upgrade in 2021, I need to double RAM and find a faster CPU from this gen.

The plan was to start with 128 GBs but when I put this rig together there were many limitations to consider with the mobos that were on the market back then.

In hindsight I should have pushed for 128 GBs even if that meant giving up overclocking the CPU and some stability issues until mobos on that generation got patched a few months later.

Right now 128 GBs is the absolute minimum for the kind of projects I create in 2D and 3D.
