Blind Reviews & The Day I Started Censoring Myself

i would normally agree but like i said - walking on eggshells here, i never take a chance lol

I guess walking on eggshells is appropriate as a Top Rated seller. Is this your main gig?

Fiverr happens to be my lowest paying “client” and took up way more time than I cared for when I was more active. It was an experiment for me which I backed off of a couple months ago. It’s probably over with this new blind review system. And with my “attitude” here. LOL.

No, started as my main gig but my budgets/services elsewhere locally, online other places etc etc - are night/day in terms of pricing/services i make 5-25x what i do here.

Honestly curious as to why you stay? I just can’t justify it financially. We can always take this to PM. This got personal!

I love being able to respond to buyers when they have written a lovely review… I always like to say THANK YOU in some way!

It is extremely difficult to “blindly review” a buyer when you don’t know what they have said. To just say “Thank you” seems inappropriate if they have written something that you might want to respond to!

I don’t know about other sellers… but who is looking up buyers and taking the time to look at their reviews “Which apparently don’t appear on their page”… And then what… are you going to choose to not do business with them!?? I don’t have that kind of time… buyers order and it goes into my queue… I’m not going to go and vet them before finishing their order. Why do they need to be reviewed seperately??

I feel like the other comments on this thread are suggesting a general “thank you for your order” review… and that makes me sad. I love writing back to happy customers and thanking them for their comments!

I hope we can change this back!!

Thank you!

Good point. I’m not closing my account either. I’m just not expecting a lot moving forward.

Exactly, sadly enough thats what its come to, a few months ago there were some other changes on i completely stopped seeing buyer request, i went from making a few thousand a month here (still not much only 2 or 3) to making less than 1, eventually went to not caring and doing like you said diving more into other available avenues and thankfully those have payed off 10 fold in just a few short months im actually going to be doing ALOT better than i was lol and in a more permanent (less scary too) way!

Surprised I haven’t been booted yet, as often as I curse at buyers and “support” specialists.

I just had my first blind review experience and just wrote something like I usually wrote. Thankfully, my reply fit to the review.

It’s something of a surreal experience though. I didn’t get any notification telling me the buyer left a review but after I left mine, it popped up within a millisecond.

(This was an easy one, though, since it was a very nice return buyer and I could see she had left me a tip, so I could guess she must have left a review too, and most probably a good one. 😉 )

Glad to see a massive community complain. Sad to realize this is another really poor thinking decision and they won’t change it because they don’t care at all about the sellers.
The day they started touching sellers integrity and rights, was the day they signed Fiverr ending.
It may not seems like, but the way they treat the sellers makes good sellers leave Fiverr and slowly but surely it becomes what it was in the first place, a cheap service for cheap customers.

I totally agree. This basically hog ties the seller in giving a good review no matter what or it looks as if your a bad guy if you honestly review some buyers. This system is wacked and I refuse to use it. Any product you buy and review the seller gets to see the review before responding.

Preach. If they’d remove fraudulent sellers on their own and be more supportive of the rest of us, this platform could beat out Upwork.

This.

It really is a shame.

This is a Russian roulette that Fiverr is forcing us to play… regrettable!!! 😠

Can I ask a serious question? Who is this for? Reviewing buyers is supposed to make it easier on sellers, right? So we can see the quality of a buyer before we work with them? But if we’re saying we don’t want this, why would they force it on us? And do buyer reviews really matter when we can’t see them and 30% of our business comes from standard Gig purchases, anyway? I really don’t get the logic behind this nonsense.

I’m also trying to help grow the thread because this topic deserves some attention.

AND fraudulent buyers may I add, because of them being the reason for blind reviews acting as a knife in our throats and keeping us hijacked.

I’ve been looking into this. And was told it is an attempt to help sellers. Fiverr thinks this will get more honest reviews of buyers. And that these reviews would only be used by Fiverr staff to help them investigate complaints against buyers more easily. There are no plans for us to ever see buyer reviews.

Was also told their search algorithms will be changing based on words used in these reviews.

I could be way off. I was not told this by anyone who works for Fiverr.

In any event, I’m dubious that this will work. So far, and probably because it’s been rolled out only half way with with little explanation, it’s only alienated and upset sellers.

ETA: I fully welcome an open dialog with anyone from Fiverr who can clearly state what’s going on without “dancing around specifics”.

I’m not quite sure if I’ll ignore reviews or leave a generic one like “Thanks for the order”

One thing I’ll miss for sure is the little notifications of “(buyer) left you a 5 star review” - that was a nice little dopamine rush for doing awesome work. And it really lifted me up during those rare times when I was bogged down in revision-city with a few Buyers.

It was always good to see 5 stars. I probably will leave generic review also. Ties our hands definitely.

Shouldn’t be called fiverr anymore should be sevenrr or fourr to the seller. As the years have gone on they take more and give less to the seller and buyer. This proves their system is one sided towards their pocket book. I will be seeking new venues to use this is just costing customers and my company to much to work with.

It makes no sense to give 5 stars to a buyer if he gave me 1 star. Yesterday I took a risk and gave someone 5 stars because he usually gives me 5 stars, but that’s not right.

We should be able to review buyers based on how they review us! If someone gives me 3 stars, I’m not going to give him 5 stars.

Will I get in trouble with Fiverr for simply not reviewing buyers?

Honestly, sometimes I don’t understand Fiverr. They seemed more concerned with the sensitive feelings of buyers who get a bad review, over sellers. Maybe Fiverr has become a Safe Space for buyers.

That is their argument why the blind review feature was required, because they don’t want sellers to give “retaliotary feedback”, even though buyers don’t have ratings or feedback showing up on their profile. Unless they are making that change.

please be sure to let me know if you have any additional needs before this order closes.” -

trying to “manipulate or circumvent fiverss review system” Dont do it lol

It’s hardly different than what I say when I deliver any order. I’m simply asking the client to make sure they are happy before they close the order. How is that trying to circumvent the process?

I see how it could easily be interpreted as that. You’re basically saying - don’t close the order until you’re happy. Closing the order = review. Don’t close the order until you have good things to say.

I’d consider that wording a bit chancy as well.

Exactly this happened to me yesterday, i had a client who asked for so many revisions and even after delivering the work, he asked for the revision again and i did it as he said or wanted it. but when i delivered the file he literally vanished. No response at all. well after three days the order automatically got completed. But Yesterday all the sudden i got a notification saying you have been reviewed by ___ ( That buyer) I was surprised to see that. Well that buyer was a scam and a very annoying one. i still rated him 3stars to see his review. And you what what i got? 1star from him and absolutely worst comments ever. And this leaded me to this place that i cannot even send offers to buyers because my rating got down from 90% just because of a single review of 1star. Disappointment!

i’ve never seen a new rule being reversed

Not quite. For instance, they seem to have reversed their decision to not show the number of all reviews of a gig but only those of the past 60 days, after there had been a massive protest about that “upgrade” recently.
