Wish I could help, but I have no idea. I don’t even know what a hashtag is. I made my gig 9 years ago and haven’t looked at it sence. That being said, I’m sure that someone will pipe in with the perfect advice for you.

CBGBs cool history. Probably similar to our old Rathskeller which also closed. Thank God for the memories.

Be well!

You have been doing VO for 9 years? WOW, Are you happy with the income it affords you?

FYI, I figured it out through guessing, you have to put a comma after the last word then hit enter. Might help you in the future…

Welcome to the community. From a voice over artist to another: I wish you all the best to your business. 🍀

Regarding your request here are a few considerations that may help you to get orders sonner.

  • Skills (at your profile): Try to use as many related tags accordingly to the services that you sell. You are only using two.
  • "About this GIG" section: I would recommend you to be very clear about what is included or not at your GIG. Even if you have your prices set to Commercial Rights and Full Broadcast Rights detailed bellow, accordingly to my experience, buyers tend to demand additional services even if that’s not described. If you make it clear you can avoid several unpleasant situations.
  • Another Tip: Have a look at this How not to be affected by canceled orders?

Thanks Filomena, I figured it out that you have to put a comma at the end for search tags.!

Hi Vincent

Cool shirt. Nice voice. Yes the voice over with the music bed could use a bit of finesse from an experienced Mix Engineer. There are a few things to know when balancing voice & music.

You are very cheap. This may concern some, but for now if you can use that (as indicated above) to get some client that may be worth it - or tossing pearls to swine? You’ll have to sort that.

Your voice has a very definite sound & feel to it. To me that would indicate that you are either out-of-touch with the kids or that you can work on being a specialist in that (what I perceive as) 60s Midwestern DJ/Soap Commercial on Louisiana Hayride kinda vibe. That can be a very charming/reassuring thing for the right clients.

🙂

I am unsure if that was supposed to be a backhanded compliment or simply a backhand!

Maybe we will leave Vincent to understand (or not if he is not the man he appears to be).

I take it you are of a different generation from the way you only chopped & quoted part of the idea, the bit that suited your narrative - yet twisted mine 😉

Wait, what? I do not believe I am pushing a narrative. I simply contributed to this thread to assist a new voice over seller…

I only mentioned in part your particular post since it may be construed as being harsh for describing a person’s voice as “out-of-touch”, “60s”, and particularly suited for the American Midwest or South. Personally, I do not think that assessment is correct.

We can agree to disagree, and do so in an agreeable manner!

Looks like you are getting a lot of great advice already, but this is what I felt:
In your description you might want to make it clear what counts as a “revision.”

If the buyer wanted you to redo the WHOLE thing because he/she felt like you were speaking too slowly/quickly, would you do the revision for free?
If the buyer asked you to add in just one word, would you do that?
What if the buyer changed his/her mind and wanted to change the script a lot while you were in the middle of working on it, or after the delivery was made?

You extracted certain parts of what I said and cast them in a different light. One that made the person I was speaking to less likely to see my intent as positive - which you seem to have achieved. Then you have the hide to tell me I should be cool and accepting about that because you are such a noble white knight.

I am pushing a narrative

There you go. You just said exactly what I said you were doing. How do you feel now I misquoted you?

As for you Vincent. No harm was meant or even implied. Quite the opposite actually.

Honestly I have to agree with him. Your critique was to me not helpful at all and it was snarky. I don’t see how you could not come to that same conclusion because it seemed like it was your intention. I however, was perfectly fine to let that go. Now you say it was constructive which I always appreciate. I just didn’t see any constructive criticism. I didn’t see anything helpful. I think you looked at my shirt and decided Midwest. I’m from the north east of America. And I can do accents in southern Western north eastern and neutral. Apology accepted, thank you. now we move on!

Apology accepted

Wow you guys really like to be totally offensive. I did nothing to need to apologize for.

You on the other hand, could have chosen to apologize for misinterpreting what I said and using that to demonize me. For losing any sense of professional courtesy.

Apology no longer required or even wanted as your colors true are shown.

Woah, well that got awkward pretty quickly 😲
I get the feeling that nobody was actually intentionally trying to offend others, but it was the all too familiar case of misunderstanding/miscommunication/wrong choice of words, etc.
Or lack of coffee and food ( 👈this happens to me quite often)

I guess I can add this too, it doesn’t always work but you can let your friends/DJ buddies know about your gig. One of them might be looking for a voice over actor, or know someone who is, or someone with marketing skills might help you to promote your gig, etc.
Good luck and happy gigging 🙂
