That refers to the tracking number you are given when sending something via a tracked delivery service.

As for disputes, say for example the buyer is trying to cancel the order because “the product never arrived”. You can then use the tracking number to prove them wrong, if it did in fact arrive. I don’t think you would avoid all potential disputes, but they would be less likely to happen and you wouldn’t have to lose out on money you’ve earned.
