What can you do with $4

In QATAR, one of the richest countries around the world, it can get me one of the following:

1. almost 15 Ltr of petrol/gas… yes 15!
2. a small cup of starbucks coffee
3. 3 loaves of bread
4. 3 small burgers from McDonald’s!
5. half a dozen of soda
6. 50MB of internet

In the United States, you can get 2 cups of cheap coffee. It does bother me when sellers from countries like Sri Lanka give me attitude about how their time is worth $40 for a gig, knowing that in their country, that’s like a weeks worth of money, and for me, I’d be lucky to get one bag of groceries.

Reply to @prologo1: That certainly beats what I can get in my part of the U.S. but interestingly, where I live it isn’t as big a difference as some might think. I live now in a small 2 bedroom 1 bath house with a carport and large backyard. It runs $400 a month.

In Canada,
$4 can get you; 1.5 loafs of bread, 4 croissant, 2 good beers, 4 hours internet, barely a suitable lunch…

Its enough for me and my family (4 person) for 1 day.

In Poland I can buy for $4:
6 litres of coke,
or
5 loafs of bread,
or
4 croissants,
or
pack of Marlboro cigarettes,
or
3 packs of good tea (each pack 200 bags inside),
or
200mb internet,
or
15kg pet food (for cats or dogs),
I don’t know about petrol since no one in their right mind will give me driving license 😃

• 2 lunches, or
  
• 2.1 litres milk, or
  
• 5km taxi
  
  ( not enough for 1 person in 1 day )

Heh if i include the trips to my workspace and rent then um well im 4 figures in the negative this year already. Hm wait its not really such a cheap hobby, i could have used the money to take a month’s vacation each year somewhere warm.

Here (in Sri Lanka) I can travel about 100km by public transport in High Way.
