Spam or legitimate Fiverr communication?

I received this message today. I won’t post the username as that is against the rules, but the “Member Since” was August 2015 and this was the text:

"Dear chellevanhoy,

Are you still waiting for more sales?

We have launched the new program for sellers who need to promote and earn more sales traffic for Gigs.

{scam link edited out for the safety of other users}

Join with our official listing program and increase impressions for your Gigs.

After few hours your Gigs appear on Fiverr main category page.

Note: This is an one time offer and don’t use with multiple accounts.

This offer valid until 31st August 2015.

Regards,

Fiverr Listing Team."

It felt hinky. I thought I’d ask our wonderful Sheriffs here on the forum if they can identify it as a legitimate offer or not. I marked it as spam, just in case.

I edited it out, thank you for the suggestion. It’s not only dangerous for the people who click on the link, but for the community at large. It really damages the reputation and the faith people have in the platform.

I wish there were a way to prevent things like this from happening, so they could be stopped before they harm someone, instead of after. Alas, this is the internet: home to spammers, scammers, thieves, and all those who generally lack scruples.

TL;DR The internet sucks.

If I send a custom order will it be a spam for example :

Sheriff’s Note: @rejabetal Yes, the link you posted in the forum is spam (and has been removed) and if you sent it as a custom offer when the buyer hasn’t asked for it, it is also spam there. You may post it in My Fiverr Gigs only.

As a sheriff, I can also add that you were right that it was “hinky” and it is spam. If you clicked on the report button, that will notify Fiverr.
