Smart picture in png format not uploading on my profile

I have read your concise rules on profile picture upload but my smart profile picture (png file) is not uploading onto my main dashboard. I understand you recommend a file size of 1280 x 769 pi; my image file space 1.67 Mb (> 5 Mb max.). It is very frustrating when you keep trying to upload a smart image of oneself. There is absolutely no reply message telling you why your attempt to upload a decent and smart image according to your guidelines has failed. Sill why can't I upload my profile picture? I look forward to your response.

Small typo in my earlier statement: < 5 Mb max. and NOT > 5 MB max.
