How is the Response Rate calculated?

Hi,
Is the Response Rate calculated on just the first interaction with someone or is every interaction with that client taken into consideration? Just asking as I had a conversation going back and forth with someone in the inbox and I was almost worried about not being the last to respond, in case it affected the rate…!
