To be on the cutting edge of this I have just added the following to my gigs:

NEW! Book a 20 minute Zoom meeting to discuss you requirements plus a 25 word sample read for just $100. Message me to book it. Great for agencies or when you need to be 100% sure.

Great idea! It sounds like this is what we're going to have to start doing. I just cancelled 3 subscriptions from a buyer who wouldn't even post the instructions until they talked to me on Zoom. I told them I couldn't Zoom, and they immediately cancelled it all. I guess now I know why.

@newsmike Thanks for keeping us in the loop! It's much appreciated!

    2. Are people of Bangladesh protesting in the streets because of the huge unemployment there, and demanding real jobs (you know, in their own country, in their own language, with cultural and ethical and all the other rules they're familiar with and can easily understand)? History teaches us that governments can provide plenty of jobs in the times of need (think about the New Deal programs and projects from the American history), and it's the role of the government to do it, to care for its people, not just to tell them "Go find a job on the internet".

I would imagine that the government wants them to...jobs will help their economy but I assume that jobs receiving pay from other countries is more profitable...especially the countries with a higher exchange rate?

That's just a guess - I'm no economic or political expert...

I am sure the ability to read and understand is one issue. However, since the government of Bangladesh sponsors education for these freelancers, they should ensure there are instructions on TOS.

Agreed....I mean, if reading and understanding rules is an issue for someone - how can they hope to read instructions and follow them, communicate effectively, and produce a great product? If one can't read the rules...one shouldn't be advertising that they can do the job. If one can't take responsibility or make amends (as @newsmike rightly said, they could have offered to reimburse people), one shouldn't be a freelancer as their own boss.

I feel for these people, but I also feel for all of us who have had to work our way through legitimately. Faking reviews is an obvious no no.....It's the equivalent of saying, "I stole, he made me and talked me into it. I didn't know better." *shrugs*

    How to promote my gig?

Gig promotions are located under the "Growth & Marketing" tab of your ribbon. However, not all gigs can be promoted. Your gig has to meet Fiverr's qualifications to be able to promote it. Once you go under that tab, you'll be able to find the information that will tell you whether you have a gig that can be promoted or not. If not, keep building orders and getting good reviews. You'll get there!

he Promoted Gigs Program allows qualified Sellers to promote their business by making their Gigs visible as ads in prime locations in the marketplace (the “Ads”), within certain categories. Promoted Gigs uses a second-price auction mechanism to determine the cost and placement of ads from participating Sellers.

Thank you, but @mariashtelle1is right - I know what the promoted gigs are and what they're for. I was wondering how 'spam' affects the statistics and pay of the promotions. So far, so long as I report all of my spam correctly, I haven't had an issue. (And I get A LOT of spam!) lol

     Nope 😉

We do, I can’t give you the exact link right now because it’s 4am and I’m sleep deprived from waking up to feed the babe, but I can point you in the right direction.
there is one big topic for sure here (probably tougher to find with all this spam topics on “promoted gigs unqualified made my gigs derank”) opened by fiverr staff. Maybe look at the very first topics created about promoted gigs, not the latest.
There was also a webinar on how promoted gigs work and they do have a way to distinguish between spam and other sellers clicking on your gig. I was attaching that link to a webinar a couple of times in this forum but again might be tough to find it but it’s there if you’ll try with “webinar”, “promoted gigs” etc keywords

Thank you! I'm not the best with searching on the forum. I will try your suggestions!

I feel for you and don't miss the baby-feeding days. My son wouldn't eat. It took 2 hours to get him to intake 2 ounces of formula at every feeding. Needless to say, I never slept. My daughter lacked suction due to her cleft palate, so I had to squirt food down her throat or put a feeding tube down her throat when that wasn't enough. So, I truly hope your feeding times are easier than mine were! But no matter their feeding skills, feeding babies is a lot of work and leaves you with little sleep. I hope your baby grows big and strong so you might catch a couple hours of sleep!

@ashleymahan217, that's good that spam isn't getting counted towards your Promoted Gig clicks! Thanks for being the guinea pig there!

You might be interested in this - Fiverr is trying out a new feature where promotions are being sent directly to buyers' inboxes (in a spammy way):

That's crazy! I truly hope they don't keep spamming buyers...that's going to tick off a lot of buyers which is the last thing we need! I don't want this! Nooo! lol - Hopefully, the forum people really will look into every poster's opinion on the matter

  8. @vickieitoThank you for your reply as it appears that no one knows the answer to this question. I've officially had my promoted gigs on for a week, and yes; I get a ridiculous amount of spam on a daily basis. About 80% of my spam is other freelancers begging for work or help on Fiverr. The remaining 20% is the usual, "reach out to me on Telegram or WhatsApp" spam. With that said, I started actually reporting all spam instead of simply blocking it, and I THINK that has kept Fiverr from considering the spam. I can't be certain because I'm still figuring out the configuration process for the promoted gigs (despite your wonderfully detailed post that explained the process to us. I'm a little slow on the uptake lol).

Anyways, I've only had one order since my promoted gigs. After about a week, this is where my gig stands:

    image.thumb.png.3651c99c7cc499d1136386025856543e.png

I'm assuming the 9 "clicks" aren't including spam because I've reported more than 9 spammers over the last week.

  9. I just started using the Promotional Gigs feature from Fiverr...and I'm truly sorry if this question has already been answered but I can't find anything about it when I searched. If this question has been answered, perhaps I need to work on my "searching" skills...

Anyways, I get a lot of spam messages on a daily basis (much like everyone else). I'm in the process of learning how the promotional gigs are figured and can't help but wonder whether or not Spam messages will be considered in those figures. Will Fiverr consider it a "click" or "missed opportunity" when I receive spam messages instead of work offers? What if I don't report each spam message and simply block them (as this became my practice a while ago - there's too much spam to frequently report)? Will I have to pay for advertising when I receive the same old spam?

Thank you for your time spent reviewing my questions!

I started using omad (one meal a day) a couple of years ago. I have little self control and can use food as a crutch when I'm stressed or bored.

I don't do it constantly, but in spurts for a few weeks when my lack of self control gets the better of me. It does take some getting used to initially, but the benefits, in addition to the physical results is that it really helps with focus (no sugar highs or crashes) and also I just have more time because I'm not wondering about breakfast and lunch. I can enjoy a brilliant dinner of whatever I want, and I'm still in a calorie defecit.

I want to ask all the hair aficionados @zeus777, @vickieito, @katakatica and anyone else... what do you think about shampoo....? Ok hear me out... I've heard that hair starts cleaning itself after a couple of months. Agree, disagree?

I've never heard of hair cleaning itself but ancient relatives seem to get by without shampoo and they still had hair. Right? Lol

I do know that a lot of the popular shampoos are actually harmful to your hair's overall health as they strip away the oils and nutrients. I've had a huge struggle with shampoo...who wants to spend $30 on a small bottle of shampoo (especially when you have kids that like to squirt out an entire bottle of your brand new, expensive shampoo before you use it)?!

Yesterday, my husband called me to an emergency, closed-door meeting. No kids allowed. I was curious why he called the meeting.

Sitting down beside his desk, I glanced at his dual-monitors and noticed all the articles and images pulled up for men’s 40+ styles and hair guides for those with graying hair.

“Vickie,” he announced, “We’re no longer young like we used to be. Gone are the days of no maintenance. We’ve got to take care of ourselves!” True, we are both aging Asians. My husband hit the magic 4-0 number a couple of months ago and I hit that magic number almost a year ago.

He then proceeded to go over facts and statistics regarding hair, skincare, dress, and overall health. He showed pictures of people who were aging well (as well as shocking pictures of people who were not). It was a fun meeting and I appreciate how my husband always reminds me to take better care of myself He’s the best.

Hair. I don’t have any gray hair…yet. I am looking into different, layered hairstyles instead of wearing my hair up in a bun all the time. My husband had his first white hair when he was 9 years old. So right now, he’s trying to transition to his natural gray color. I’m sure my gray hairs will start popping out any time now and my 13-year-old son will be the first person to tell me about them.

Skincare. Skincare was a big topic on our meeting. My husband has great skin. He uses different things for his skin in the morning and night and even bought me some skincare products. He has reiterated to me on numerous occasions that great skin is the key to youth. I’m making slow progress there. I used to use the same soap for my face and body. Now I use face wash. I haven’t been using the skincare products he bought me. So I’ll try to be more diligent there.

Dress. Style was another topic of discussion. Last week, my husband found me lounging about the apartment in his shorts (they were very comfortable by the way). Later that day he took me for a long walk. I thought it was a nice date, alone time with just me and him. But actually he was walking me to UNIQLO so that I could buy and wear my own clothes. 😂

I do need to dress better. I’m a creature of comfort. I got married in a muumuu and demanded that we have an all-you-can-eat kalua pork dinner buffet at our Hawaiian wedding. I’ll start by taking @smashradio's advice to at least start dressing up for work. I’ll also try to develop a better sense of style. My husband will be the judge. I do want to be beautiful for him. He’s the only person I want to dress to impress.

Overall Health. Healthwise, I know I’m not a young’un anymore. I take afternoon sietas. I gain weight just thinking about food. I make noises as I ease into and out of chairs. My 9-year-old daughter thinks I’m hilarious and joking all the time, but I’m not. I really am starting to feel my age.

I have shape, but not necessarily the shape I want. So I do need to take care of my health and fit again. Mental health wise, I need to follow my husband’s example.

In the morning, he wakes up and meditates.

...I wake up and check the forum. 😂

I’ve got to make some important life changes if I plan on growing old with him.

Anyone else trying to age gracefully? How are you taking care of yourself?

This is a refreshing change of topic, and too true! I've neglected any hope of putting on make-up and my high heels have sat in my closet (untouched) for years now. I guess we don't notice these things without a 9-5 to commit to. It's awesome that you have a husband who's so diligent in watching out for your health. You two must make a good team!

If there's anything I've realized over my "work break" this last week, it's that I have the rest of my life to sit at home on the computer looking horrible; but my children will only be young and interested in hanging out with me for a few more years. That's time I can't get back; spend the time with your kids while you can!!!!

P.s. waking up to a Fiverr forum sounds like a horrible idea; waking up to the drama and others' problems. But, perhaps this is simply due to how much drama I've seen on here and would never want to wake to that drama myself.

@sarahhagwood - there is only one of you and you really need to take care of yourself!

I was in your shoes earlier this year, trying to be that super mom struggling to keep up with all the competing obligations that seemed to be drowning me. I ended up doing 48-hr days, sleeping only a few hours between, and kept telling myself, "I can do this!"...until I couldn't.

This is one of the reasons why I came to the forum - I told myself there just had to be a better way!

It's not worth it to do that to your body @sarahhagwood! Your family (and baby) needs you!

For me, I had to learn how to set clear boundaries for sleep, work, family, and other competing activities. I also had to learn how to say "no" to a lot of things - not just in business, but in my personal life.

I agree with @donnovan86 - I increased my average selling price from $15 to $100 (for resume writing) and doubled my delivery times. Life has been so much better! I get less orders, but make more. Higher prices has also brought in better buyers.

I used to think my buyers wanted quick deliveries and discounted prices, but since I raised my prices and extended my delivery dates, I'm surprised that many buyers are okay with -day delivery. It really doesn't take long to write a cover letter, resume, or update LinkedIn, so my buyers are always happy when I deliver way earlier than 14 days. Having the longer deliveries also allows me to plan my orders better and I can schedule in time blocks that fit my family's needs.

@vickieito *coughs* Hypocrite. Mrs. "I'm just going to squeeze in an hour nap and then stay up all night advising a freelancer not to stay up all night" lol (Seriously, she's always telling me to get my butt to bed yet here she is...) 🤣😋

Yesterday a "writer" on Fiverr contacted me asking for samples, posing as a buyer. I visit his profile, he copied my gig's name, description, my profile description, and obviously he was also trying to steal my samples too. Needless to say... I immediately told him to remove everything, otherwise I will report him. And he deleted everything. But clearly there are a lot of people just trying to emulate other people's success. These copycats are the reason why some buyers leave Fiverr. It's even funnier that the dude in question had double my price, yet he is stealing the description of someone with a lower price. If he is that good, why didn't he write the description and everythign else on his own? Yeah, lots of people just trying to con buyers and run off with their money...

This is so crazy to me! I never knew there was an issue of sellers stealing gig descriptions and such...I always just figured that they're hard to make different sometimes..but exact replicas AND charging more?! (it is kind of funny - how mad would you be if he succeeded in getting paid for his endeavors?!)

Anyways, you should take it as a compliment like @catwritersaid; I guess? He really, really, really wanted to be like you!

So I did it. I got myself overbooked and managed to succumb to the desire to please my buyer by providing more than what he paid me for 🤦‍♀️

Time for my 2 second pity party (don't worry, I will be fine in a day lol):

I am 6 months pregnant, working full time and doing Fiverr gigs and promotional gigs (irl) while also caring for 2 little girls and maintaining church activities, extracurriculars, etc. The sad part is that one of my Fiverr gigs is COUNSELING!!! 🤐 And yes, I know... this is way too much.

These hard economic times have people doing some desperate things. The bank isn't adding more to the checking account without work and the bills aren't going to stop (yes, we are reducing cost of living). I know times are hard for many. I am still grateful for the opportunity to be a seller on Fiverr, however. BUUUT, maybe I will take a break this week. 🙂 I just stayed up ALL night doing $50 in work.... Nope. Not worth it.

    Night Night!

To me, all-nighters are often counter-productive as I end up brain-dead and unable to think. Thus, a 2-hour job is going to require 5 hours if I don't sleep.

I hope all gets better for you as I'm sure it will. I'm in the same boat transitioning from "cheap jobs in order to gain reviews" to "improving my gigs in order to charge enough to make a living." It's certainly not easy when everyone who comes to you wants their 10-hour job done for $15. Good luck on your work and avoid those all-nighters!

    image.thumb.png.1620c1a69b4b97b9e44ea5f3d8f0b38a.png

This won't stop people from contacting you, though. Buyers still can message you in the inbox. If you want to prevent messages, you would have to use the Out-Of-Office option (which doesn't make sense for sleeping).

Thank you. See, I told you, people shouldn't get mad about the "this is already posted" aspect. This is an issue I know a lot of people struggle with and would probably do some good to be read. But it's so old that it does no good. Either way, it's done me some good. I didn't know there was a website option. Thank you!!!!

I totally agree with you both on this! I need to develop thicker skin ..this is the only way that Fiverr can start taking action.

I tried out the "report" flag for the first time yesterday (for several folks who were copying my gig description word for word), and was surprised to see how quickly those gigs got shut down. This might be my next favorite button to use besides the spam button. So, consider me in whenever you and @donnovan86 wants to bring justice to all those liars and copy cats!

I never knew they copied your gig descriptions! That's crazy. And to think, here I am trying so hard to make something LIKE your page when this whole time I could've just copied it and put my name on it.

I once tried to help a foreigner fix their profile description. I told him to try and put something more like "yada yada (insert your skills here) yada yada." He ended up copying the whole thing and putting the "insert your skills here" part instead of actually listing his skills. I'm like "yeahhh that's better, no one will know you copied that & that you don't actually speak fluent English" lol. (I didn't really, I helped him fix it bc I'm a good person but it's funny to think about him leaving it like that)

  17. I agree, I often have issues with a "bad response time" because my husband works 3rd shift, prompting me to be awake longer at night and to sleep in more during the afternoon. So, when I'm done working at 3 am, people (usually spammers) message me at 5 am, and I can't respond to them until later in the afternoon. By then, I've already got a red clock warning. Not everyone runs on a 9-5 schedule.

There is an "online status" on the mobile app, but I haven't found one on the webpage. You can try using your phone's feature if you download the Fiverr app.

Does anyone know how to change the 'online status' on the website?

A few months ago, someone sent me a message on Fiverr asking to pay me to give him/her good reviews on Upwork. First of all, that's not my area of expertise. Second and most important, you should not pay a stranger to give you good reviews. That's wrong and I admit, maybe I should have reported him/her.

Has this ever happend to you as well?

It hasn't happened to me specifically on Fiverr but vice-versa. Upwork frequently has buyers looking for people to give them good Fiverr reviews. The buyer gives the seller the exact words to state in the review and everything. It sucks to know we've worked so hard for our reviews while others are getting them from family/friends and buying them. Though I believe Fiverr is supposed to take measures to detect and remove these fake reviews. You should've reported it, but have no doubt, they would've made a new account and done so again.

What do you say, @vickieito? Have you ever seen Fiverr do something about these reviews?

  19. Excellent advice! I can't count how many times a day I get people asking me for work or projects instead of improving their gigs and services.

I would suggest one other major tip that ties in with professionalism and communication: LANGUAGE. Learn the language you're communicating in if you're not fluent in it. It's unfortunate because I see so many talented people offering great services at exceptional prices, but the seller can't communicate. If you're advertising that you speak "fluent English/French/Spanish/Etc.," buyers are going to know whether you're lying almost instantly.

You're amazing at coaching btw, perhaps you should create a "career coaching" gig lol 🤪

    Thanks again for the tips!

I had the Buyer's Brief option turned off for the longest time because most of the the briefs weren't relevant (and the alerts were annoying), but I turned the option on again last week because I have been aggressively increasing my prices and I'm not sure how that will affect my gig performance.

Since then, I received 10 irrelevant briefs, 2 relevant but incomplete briefs, and 1 relevant and completely filled-out brief.

The relevant/completely filled out brief was at a price higher than my premium package price (which I had updated a few days ago) so it made sense to submit an offer, and at the price the buyer was asking for because the buyer also wanted a quicker turnaround than what I normally offer. The buyer contacted me within 5 minutes to place the order.

I still think it's a hit or miss on getting good briefs to respond to, but so far, I like the briefs a lot more than the buyer's requests.

How have the buyer's briefs been working for you?

This feature relates too closely with Upwork in my opinion, & I hated that about that platform. Granted, you don't have to pay to apply for the project like you would on Upwork, but it's still the same concept of having sellers compete for your project. This is the main reason I've always preferred Fiverr. Who wants to spend all of their time writing massive proposals for a job that you MIGHT end up getting? I'm not saying you can't be successful or that the option isn't nice, especially if you're broke and needing a gig, but it's not ideal. Upwork and that system has worked great for some, but I'd rather be spending my time working/improving than asking for someone to hire me. This way, people can see your skills and come to you.

And the one experience I have with the briefs was: I applied for the project and sent an offer, the buyer approved the offer 2 days later without any word and poor communication (as they were too busy with their work and the other sellers they had hired for it). Point being: by the time she approved the order without talking to me, I had already booked myself up. *This is when I learned the necessity for an expiration date on offers 🙂
