  1. Great idea! It sounds like this is what we're going to have to start doing. I just cancelled 3 subscriptions from a buyer who wouldn't even post the instructions until they talked to me on Zoom. I told them I couldn't Zoom, and they immediately cancelled it all. I guess now I know why. @newsmike Thanks for keeping us in the loop! It's much appreciated!
  2. I would imagine that the government wants them to...jobs will help their economy but I assume that jobs receiving pay from other countries is more profitable...especially the countries with a higher exchange rate? That's just a guess - I'm no economic or political expert...
  3. Agreed....I mean, if reading and understanding rules is an issue for someone - how can they hope to read instructions and follow them, communicate effectively, and produce a great product? If one can't read the rules...one shouldn't be advertising that they can do the job. If one can't take responsibility or make amends (as @newsmike rightly said, they could have offered to reimburse people), one shouldn't be a freelancer as their own boss. I feel for these people, but I also feel for all of us who have had to work our way through legitimately. Faking reviews is an obvious no no.....It's the equivalent of saying, "I stole, he made me and talked me into it. I didn't know better." *shrugs*
  4. Gig promotions are located under the "Growth & Marketing" tab of your ribbon. However, not all gigs can be promoted. Your gig has to meet Fiverr's qualifications to be able to promote it. Once you go under that tab, you'll be able to find the information that will tell you whether you have a gig that can be promoted or not. If not, keep building orders and getting good reviews. You'll get there!
  5. Thank you, but @mariashtelle1is right - I know what the promoted gigs are and what they're for. I was wondering how 'spam' affects the statistics and pay of the promotions. So far, so long as I report all of my spam correctly, I haven't had an issue. (And I get A LOT of spam!) lol
  6. Thank you! I'm not the best with searching on the forum. I will try your suggestions! I feel for you and don't miss the baby-feeding days. My son wouldn't eat. It took 2 hours to get him to intake 2 ounces of formula at every feeding. Needless to say, I never slept. My daughter lacked suction due to her cleft palate, so I had to squirt food down her throat or put a feeding tube down her throat when that wasn't enough. So, I truly hope your feeding times are easier than mine were! But no matter their feeding skills, feeding babies is a lot of work and leaves you with little sleep. I hope your baby grows big and strong so you might catch a couple hours of sleep!
  7. That's crazy! I truly hope they don't keep spamming buyers...that's going to tick off a lot of buyers which is the last thing we need! I don't want this! Nooo! lol - Hopefully, the forum people really will look into every poster's opinion on the matter
  8. @vickieitoThank you for your reply as it appears that no one knows the answer to this question. I've officially had my promoted gigs on for a week, and yes; I get a ridiculous amount of spam on a daily basis. About 80% of my spam is other freelancers begging for work or help on Fiverr. The remaining 20% is the usual, "reach out to me on Telegram or WhatsApp" spam. With that said, I started actually reporting all spam instead of simply blocking it, and I THINK that has kept Fiverr from considering the spam. I can't be certain because I'm still figuring out the configuration process for the promoted gigs (despite your wonderfully detailed post that explained the process to us. I'm a little slow on the uptake lol). Anyways, I've only had one order since my promoted gigs. After about a week, this is where my gig stands: I'm assuming the 9 "clicks" aren't including spam because I've reported more than 9 spammers over the last week.
  9. I just started using the Promotional Gigs feature from Fiverr...and I'm truly sorry if this question has already been answered but I can't find anything about it when I searched. If this question has been answered, perhaps I need to work on my "searching" skills... Anyways, I get a lot of spam messages on a daily basis (much like everyone else). I'm in the process of learning how the promotional gigs are figured and can't help but wonder whether or not Spam messages will be considered in those figures. Will Fiverr consider it a "click" or "missed opportunity" when I receive spam messages instead of work offers? What if I don't report each spam message and simply block them (as this became my practice a while ago - there's too much spam to frequently report)? Will I have to pay for advertising when I receive the same old spam? Thank you for your time spent reviewing my questions!
  10. I've never heard of hair cleaning itself but ancient relatives seem to get by without shampoo and they still had hair. Right? Lol I do know that a lot of the popular shampoos are actually harmful to your hair's overall health as they strip away the oils and nutrients. I've had a huge struggle with shampoo...who wants to spend $30 on a small bottle of shampoo (especially when you have kids that like to squirt out an entire bottle of your brand new, expensive shampoo before you use it)?!
  11. This is a refreshing change of topic, and too true! I've neglected any hope of putting on make-up and my high heels have sat in my closet (untouched) for years now. I guess we don't notice these things without a 9-5 to commit to. It's awesome that you have a husband who's so diligent in watching out for your health. You two must make a good team! If there's anything I've realized over my "work break" this last week, it's that I have the rest of my life to sit at home on the computer looking horrible; but my children will only be young and interested in hanging out with me for a few more years. That's time I can't get back; spend the time with your kids while you can!!!! P.s. waking up to a Fiverr forum sounds like a horrible idea; waking up to the drama and others' problems. But, perhaps this is simply due to how much drama I've seen on here and would never want to wake to that drama myself.
  12. @vickieito *coughs* Hypocrite. Mrs. "I'm just going to squeeze in an hour nap and then stay up all night advising a freelancer not to stay up all night" lol (Seriously, she's always telling me to get my butt to bed yet here she is...) 🤣😋
  13. This is so crazy to me! I never knew there was an issue of sellers stealing gig descriptions and such...I always just figured that they're hard to make different sometimes..but exact replicas AND charging more?! (it is kind of funny - how mad would you be if he succeeded in getting paid for his endeavors?!) Anyways, you should take it as a compliment like @catwritersaid; I guess? He really, really, really wanted to be like you!
  14. To me, all-nighters are often counter-productive as I end up brain-dead and unable to think. Thus, a 2-hour job is going to require 5 hours if I don't sleep. I hope all gets better for you as I'm sure it will. I'm in the same boat transitioning from "cheap jobs in order to gain reviews" to "improving my gigs in order to charge enough to make a living." It's certainly not easy when everyone who comes to you wants their 10-hour job done for $15. Good luck on your work and avoid those all-nighters!
  15. Thank you. See, I told you, people shouldn't get mad about the "this is already posted" aspect. This is an issue I know a lot of people struggle with and would probably do some good to be read. But it's so old that it does no good. Either way, it's done me some good. I didn't know there was a website option. Thank you!!!!
  16. I never knew they copied your gig descriptions! That's crazy. And to think, here I am trying so hard to make something LIKE your page when this whole time I could've just copied it and put my name on it. I once tried to help a foreigner fix their profile description. I told him to try and put something more like "yada yada (insert your skills here) yada yada." He ended up copying the whole thing and putting the "insert your skills here" part instead of actually listing his skills. I'm like "yeahhh that's better, no one will know you copied that & that you don't actually speak fluent English" lol. (I didn't really, I helped him fix it bc I'm a good person but it's funny to think about him leaving it like that)
  17. I have to agree to disagree with you, @vickieito. @donnovan86 has the best answer. Don't let them get away with it! Equal review rights for all!
  18. I agree, I often have issues with a "bad response time" because my husband works 3rd shift, prompting me to be awake longer at night and to sleep in more during the afternoon. So, when I'm done working at 3 am, people (usually spammers) message me at 5 am, and I can't respond to them until later in the afternoon. By then, I've already got a red clock warning. Not everyone runs on a 9-5 schedule. There is an "online status" on the mobile app, but I haven't found one on the webpage. You can try using your phone's feature if you download the Fiverr app. Does anyone know how to change the 'online status' on the website?
  19. It hasn't happened to me specifically on Fiverr but vice-versa. Upwork frequently has buyers looking for people to give them good Fiverr reviews. The buyer gives the seller the exact words to state in the review and everything. It sucks to know we've worked so hard for our reviews while others are getting them from family/friends and buying them. Though I believe Fiverr is supposed to take measures to detect and remove these fake reviews. You should've reported it, but have no doubt, they would've made a new account and done so again. What do you say, @vickieito? Have you ever seen Fiverr do something about these reviews?
  20. I didn't know this, they have a coupon option?! So, do you think the Fiverr Plus is worth the cost in the end? (for you personally - has it been profitable and beneficial?)
  21. Excellent advice! I can't count how many times a day I get people asking me for work or projects instead of improving their gigs and services. I would suggest one other major tip that ties in with professionalism and communication: LANGUAGE. Learn the language you're communicating in if you're not fluent in it. It's unfortunate because I see so many talented people offering great services at exceptional prices, but the seller can't communicate. If you're advertising that you speak "fluent English/French/Spanish/Etc.," buyers are going to know whether you're lying almost instantly. You're amazing at coaching btw, perhaps you should create a "career coaching" gig lol 🤪 Thanks again for the tips!
  22. This feature relates too closely with Upwork in my opinion, & I hated that about that platform. Granted, you don't have to pay to apply for the project like you would on Upwork, but it's still the same concept of having sellers compete for your project. This is the main reason I've always preferred Fiverr. Who wants to spend all of their time writing massive proposals for a job that you MIGHT end up getting? I'm not saying you can't be successful or that the option isn't nice, especially if you're broke and needing a gig, but it's not ideal. Upwork and that system has worked great for some, but I'd rather be spending my time working/improving than asking for someone to hire me. This way, people can see your skills and come to you. And the one experience I have with the briefs was: I applied for the project and sent an offer, the buyer approved the offer 2 days later without any word and poor communication (as they were too busy with their work and the other sellers they had hired for it). Point being: by the time she approved the order without talking to me, I had already booked myself up. *This is when I learned the necessity for an expiration date on offers 🙂
