What a legit GIG looks like?

There is something odd about this whole topic and conversation that I cannot put my finger on.
The OP makes reference to certain services (and the fact that he has tried all seller levels) that he has tried out, all of which sound relatively rubbish.

In the comments he explains that he offers a Youtube video optimization service.

I find it difficult to believe that someone who offers that service would also be convinced into buying links due to their Pagerank. As @jonbaas mentioned, Pagerank is completely unreliable, it has in fact not been updated since February 2013 - almost 4 years. This means that any site which had a good Pagerank almost 4 years ago will still have that same Pagerank - even if that site has become a completely spam infested mess. Obviously almost all social media sites are still worth their Pagerank but Google measures links from those in a completely different way. As well as that, Pagerank hasn’t been counted from many of the personal profiles on most sites, such as news sites etc. for approx 4 years, and some would say it never did.
Furthermore, I cannot understand someone who sells video optimization services buying Facebook likes and genuinely believing they would be real people (aside from the fact that buying FB likes is not allowed).

My suggestion for anyone hiring a freelancer for SEO is that they first educate themselves on what SEO is, what is good, what is bad etc and then to search for people who offer those good methods as services. At least then they can have an idea about whether what is delivered is good or not. A good place to start is to watch as many videos by Matt Cutts (head of search spam at Google although currently on a leave of absence). He talks a lot about what is bad and what is good and by taking his advice you will find out a lot of things to watch out for when getting SEO services.

I am specialized in youtube optimization. I have no other gig then youtube optimization. I know something about optimizing blogs too (as i tried fiverr to find a little boost for my new blog), but i figured i could pay 5 dollars instead of doing it myself. I was wrong. I actually tried to buy facebook likes because i made a facebook page and a blog for my youtube channel. I did not expect real people on those facebook likes, i just wanted some that look human, to have about 200-300 likes, then start to pay facebook ads to get this going faster. The likes were to look more then the page was (few people like a page with 2 likes…200 sounds a little better)

And about pagerank, it’s not the same as it was, it’s not counted the same, but can still be measured and can still add value to a new page if used correctly.

I can send you in private my SEO certification along with my id, or a video holding them both, in case you have doubts about my skills as a Youtube SEO Specialist.

Matt Cutts is no more. John Mueller is probably his replacement, or some other google puppet. What google say and what google actually does in terms of SEO are never the same. From my experience, the youtube optimization is very different from what officials from youtube sayit is.

Now that a moderator tried to mock my job, i will probably get 0 messages on my gigs, tho i am certified, experienced and legit. Maybe moderators should hold their own opinions for themselves and care about those morons who “call out other users in some against-the-rules matter” (i guess this was all about that, right?).

@therelaxer The moderators here are sellers like everyone else, and we often participate in threads. @eoinfinnegan wasn’t even the moderator who acted on any violations in this thread, that was me, and I stayed out of the conversation overall because this really isn’t my specialty. (Edited to add - @eoinfinnegan did tell me that later he noticed another post with a username in it and he did send a notice, but otherwise, he has only been here as a participant in the discussion.) I admit that I am biased regarding almost any traffic type gig, but I don’t really know a lot about SEO, so in this one thread I am a better moderator than a participant. I’m chiming in now to say that I think Eoin was just commenting as another user, and it’s a discussion, not a battle. 🙂

It seems to me he wanted to point out some things that seemed off to him, and you may have felt like he was poking at you personally because you violated a rule, but I can assure you that isn’t the case. Moderators are allowed to comment and state opinions, and you are always welcome to report any user to Customer Support if you feel they have violated the Terms of Service.

I hope you can just continue with your discussion, otherwise, and keep it professional even if you disagree with a point of view expressed. You can flag comments if they violate the forum rules, but flagging over point of view isn’t helpful. That’s all I have to say, and otherwise, I’ll do my best to stay out of it again and moderate if needed.

Fair enough point on the FB followers idea but do remember that FB will likely ban a page they suspect of gaining fake followers which could be disastrous if you have put more money into ads.

My point was not in reference to your skills or qualifications, it was more in regard to the fact you posted about how you had so many bad experiences and later on posted about how you sell similar service, how you are successful at it etc. It could be seen as self-promotion which is not allowed on the Forum, except for in the My Fiverr Gigs category.

Matt’s videos are exceptionally good for people to understand what SEO is, what is good and what is bad which is why I recommend them. Of course there is more to SEO than just those but they are good for beginners to get an understanding.

Again, I am not mocking your job or anything, I was just a little bit dubious about your reason for posting this. Moderators are simply sellers with a few more options and a little responsibility on the forum, nothing more and I think you are vastly overestimating the effect of a post on the forum, even if I had been negative about your gig.

If I could not post freely on the forum I wouldn’t be a mod and I don’t really understand the last line? I asked you not to call out other users, you said it wouldn’t happen again, I thanked you for understanding.

The mod messaged me, the reason i used the quotes.

I posted this wondering if it was a good idea to try and become a seller here, since top rated and lvl 2 sellers tried to scam me and have posted in their gigs facebook likes, tho fiverr forbids that.

I posted here to ask who should i pick for a job, if a top seller delivered soundcloud profiles and google+ profiles with like 4 people in circles, saying they sell pr9 backlinks.

I just posted here in conversation room, to make conversation, maybe get to know some of the people involved in this conversation, find some other users other then "Hello sir, i do my best sir. I deliver order tomorrow sir. These are some other kind of backlinks, sir. Hidden ones, sir. You can’t see them, but i placed them there, sir. Give me 5 stars, sir."

And i’ve seen some, so i kept my gig for now, convinced that not all users are like that.

And no, none of you mods were those users.

Appreciate the response and that makes total sense. Please appreciate that the forum gets a lot of people who post in the hope of boosting their sales and I accept that you were not doing that.

Your gig looks interesting, I have bookmarked it for the future.

Good luck.

Boosting my sale was not going thru my mind, since i haven’t sell any gigs yet. Every start is harsh, the new guy always gets poked, people try him out, see what he’s made of. I will eventually change your perspective the following months, hopefully.

I understand, he clarified and I edited my response because I was the first to act on the thread but he did add something later. I just wanted you to be aware that I don’t believe he was against you personally over anything to do with being a moderator. When you said:

I just don’t think you are on track and I wanted to say so. I don’t believe Eoin meant to mock you at all. A moderator commenting on (or even mocking) someone would be very, very unlikely to have a negative impact on your gigs or sales. In fact, there are regular users here who are very active and sharp-tongued while the moderators try hard not to be overly harsh. The forum rarely has any impact on sales in a positive or negative way or all the regular posters and moderators would be Super Sellers without thousands of sales. I’m sorry that you felt offended, but I think your assumptions are off. If you want the entire thread removed, it can be, and then you can avoid the impact in every way. Feel free to send me a forum PM if you would like the thread taken down. Otherwise, I hope you will continue the discussion which is interesting and if anything, demonstrates your knowledge along with that of others.

Buying links is always tricky since you just don’t know where those links are being made, I would ask for a sample of that person’s work before ordering anything.

Have you considered buying guest posts? You can ask the seller for the url to the website and then you can check all the stats yourself?

You can write the article yourself (or hire a content writer to write for you). Very often the seller includes an option to write the article.

If the seller gives you the url of the website you should be able to see the quality of the guest posts that are written.

Regarding Facebook, well adding any likes is against Facebook TOS and against the TOS of Fiverr. I’ve got a Facebook page that I have grown to over 45 000 followers in 5 years. This is through hard work and using Facebook advertising. It is seriously not that hard to do.

If you are looking just for 200 - 300 likes then I would really stop searching for a way to buy fake likes and put your time, energy and money into Facebook advertising and promoting your page yourself. You can have those likes in no time 🙂

Facebook advertising will reach less people and the engagement on those ads would be less effective in my case. Even so, i don’t rule out facebook advertising, it’s just not the best for me. Planning to integrate it somehow in my videos, but that’s hard to do since you cant advertise your facebook and blog in the 1st 20 minutes (usually at the end), and i have licence for serial killer documentaries that are between 30 mins and 1 hour long (the viewer retention is average 20 mins or so).

I have a 3 and a half months son, if i ever make a daddy blog, then you might be able to help me 🙂 )

So what real seo can you get for a blog for 5 dollars?

I would be quite WARY of any SEO services being offered at $5, unless you purchase from a reputable Fiverr SEO seller with over 100,000+ reviews.

(Yes, they do exist)

Those ones are mostly the ones that will deliver crap. Already they have reviews and they are aware buyers will trust them too much ,hence they deliver crap. Oh some of them are too successful such that they move from New York to live in Pakistan and start selling Social Media Likes and rank people’s websites number 1 on google search.

Oh serial killers? @therelaxer yes I can certainly see how that would make guest posting in your niche a little tricky! And yes I am with you, it certainly wouldn’t fit with any of the websites that I blog on.

I am sure though that there is enough interest in any niche.

Have you considered searching for other serial killer bloggers and discussing guest posting? That might be a really cool way to increase your readership and also to gain baclinks?

I guess in such a small niche a lot of people might consider it silly to try that since they will view other blogs in their niche as competition but the way I see it is that I don’t read just one website I follow a few… so perhaps sticking together and networking would be beneficial?

I found some, but my 10 days old blog has more traffic then they have, because i drive traffic to my new blog from facebook and my youtube descriptions (i get about 35k views/day on youtube). So no point trying, it’s more like i am giving then receiving 🙂
