Speaking as someone with over 1000 website designs to my name. Some the answers above are bordeline crazy.  You clearly have no idea of the trends and insights as you either have no experience, or you're asking a bot to answer for you. 

Recent trends I have observed are as follows

1) Tradespeople who have fallen behind the curve and have no digital presence. FOMO (Fear of missing out) 

2) Medical professionals / Counsellers / Physotherpaists / Tutors who were forced to commuinicate online during covid, that now choose to embrace technology

3) Customers who can no longer afford amazon, shopify and etsy fees who now want to move to online platforms 

4) Customers that don't want to pay for a full website and want to experiment with landing pages 

5) Teachers who want to have a passive income using LMS platforms such as learndash

 

There are probably more. But these are the stand out ones.  A lot of the people above that mention custom website design probably don't know what this even means, as in my experience, a lot of designers are just using prebuilt templates. This isn't design, it's data entry. 

Before you comment on subjects like this, at least give some rationale for your answer, or you're just taking up valuable forum space!

Would it be safe to say that this modus operandi accounts for at least 80% of the sellers on Fiverr ACROSS all design-related categories?? 

No skills, no work experience, no formal education - just templates!
