Directions on how to post a digital software package for sale Gig

desmond_aubery

Question

Hello Colleagues,

Please advise me how to st up a Gig on Fiverr whereby I sell my specialised Engineering software package - all contained in an a zipped archive.

I have tried through the normal Gig interface, but can't figure out what options to select, and where to upload my zip file.

Many thanks for your kind assistance.  😊

It appears that this is not allowed by the platform.

I admit to being most confused. I had previously been informed on a Quora thread that this was acceptable.

I did leave a request with the Helpline before trying via a Gig. It rejected it immediately.

Oh well, it is what it is. I'm still confused though.

Well, I guess you are trying to sell some digital products on Fiverr.

If yes,

  • You can create a gig related to your description of your service or product.
  • If a buyer expresses interest in purchasing your product and places an order, you can discuss it with them and share the product through the delivery chatbox.

I think it wouldn't be allowed if it wasn't customized work (at least slightly different for each buyer).

If you look at this link: https://www.fiverr.com/community/standards/ai-generated-content

even though that's talking about AI and your gig wouldn't be, it says:

Quote

Offer customized work for each order (and not offer AI-generated content in bulk, where the same work is delivered to multiple buyers)

You could check at the helpdesk (or maybe you have) but I think they might have said before that they don't want the same work given to many different people (though it only mentions that in the AI rules section). But the buyer is normally supposed to get copyright (but that can be changed by saying in the gig description that they wouldn't get exclusive rights).

So you might be able to do something like that if you customized it for each buyer (but check with CS).

I did try precisely that, but the platform flagged it immediately.

You'd need to attach after a buyer orders, so in the order page you press "deliver" and attach the files you want to deliver (such as your .zip file).

If it's too big Fiverr help says you can use dropbox but you also need to show proof of work (you need to be careful of getting flagged eg. for partial deliveries if you don't properly show proof of work or deliver fully).  So if possible attach it on Fiverr deliver.

So it wouldn't be automatic. You'd have to manually deliver each order uploading the .zip file each time. But Fiverr would want the software customized I think.

If you find yourself in that situation, Fiverr support is your best option for assistance. You can reach out to them in a polite manner and inquire about your mistakes and possible solutions. If you have already attempted to contact them without success, it may be helpful to review the Fiverr terms of service. By doing so, you may be able to identify the root cause of the issue and find a solution.

Normally Fiverr is meant for selling CUSTOM services

It may not be good choice for selling ready made and resell-able assets/templates

For selling softwares, maybe check codecanyon, sellix etc (just a hint, you can research further)

Fair-enough. I'm beginning to understand their general philosophy.

Thanks everyone for your incredibly wise comments. It is very much appreciated.  😊

I had a good, long think about it, and believe that a suitable approach - and better for the customer - is to indeed offer a training and support Gig, with the software being essentially used as part of the medium of training - so, essentially being incidental to the project. So, the training is the main focus - and will be customized to suit each customer's needs.

Let's see if this is appropriate.
