Downloading STEP files

My designer sent me .step 3d file however whenever I download it is is converted to a .txt file.

I use chrome and I am pn a Windows machine.

This is very frustrating.

Are there any quick fixes to this.

I think this is more of a question for Google. You would need a CAD software to open it. On a mac, autodesk would do it. I’m sure windows has a program as well.

I disagree with nikandco. I am running into the same issue and I have CAD software on my computer. The issue isn't opening the file once it's downloaded, it's that the downloaded process changes it from STEP to TXT and the CAD software won't recognize the file. Does anyone else have a solution?
