It is better to just download the Fiverr app to your phone you can check Fiverr umpteen times in the day if you wish and if you have a new order or message etc. you will be notified.

The best thing to do is read the blog and listen to the podcasts that Fiverr has. You will learn a few things. I am a new seller and can attest to that.

The problem is that fiverr also rank low rated and discrete gigs on top too (which looks to be random, to giver a chance to these gigs).

I just said this and this is the reason you CAN’T rank your gig. Part of this is based on your performance (so you need to do some sales and get good reviews) and other part is random, to help those discrete gigs.
