First order: language barrier with seller

Recommended Posts

I went on Fiverr looking for a designer for a logo - my first ever order as a buyer - except that I wanted a custom order of a logo and some additional illustrations. I chose a designer and decided to work with him on my custom order despite it being clear that English was not his first language, since I liked his portfolio.

More than a week later, the order is still not completed due to some miscommunication. We have been going back and forth on my order requirements. I’ve engaged another designer elsewhere who is more fluent and have had no issues so far.

Lesson learned - if you have specific requirements, it might be better to go with someone who speaks fluent English, even if their portfolio is good! This is probably obvious and a rookie mistake but just thought I’d post this here so others will bear such things in mind.
