There is no way to test it technically on the platform. 

Simplest thing you can do is to upload and keep it LIVE for 4 weeks and then repeat the process with the alternate image. 4 weeks is a decent time period to gather data about "clicks".

I was thinking the same. Or running 2 same GIGs at the same time with different GIG Thumbnail

You can try that but it might not give you accurate inferences because the algorithm treats each gig on its own merit. Most likely they will never show up on the same page of search results, so there won't be any relative correlation between the 'clicks' they will garner.
