Adult Content article request

sroberts_1975

Question

Hi

Hi, I am rcently returing to Fiverr after a few tears soI do apologize if this subject been raised previously.

I have looked through the forum and looked at Fiverr FAQ's but havent been able to find a specific answer!

I spoke with a seller requesting a website review on and adut gaming site that is very much 18+ adult  gaming. I halted my request as I didn't want to break T's and C's by mistake and get myself or the seller into trouble . Am I alowed to request a written review of a site, without sharing any content. other than the site name so they can research it?  And recieve the article?

No images, nothing other than written content??

From the terms on Fiverr:

Gigs and/or users may be removed by Fiverr from the Site for violations of these Terms of Service and/or our Community Standards, which may include (but are not limited to) the following violations and/or materials:

  • Adult oriented services, Pornographic, Inappropriate/Obscene

I think that covers your type of material. Written or not, it's "adult oriented".

While I'd have to agree in this case (as it's a review) CS did say (twice) that having an erotica writing gig up is perfectly fine. (not that anything I write would be inappropriate as it's barely bolder than regular romance, but...) I do find the standard somewhat odd for this reason, but since anyone can purchase anything on here, it does make sense I suppose?

If you REALLY needed something like this, I would likely ask CS for their current stand on it, but I do think that it would probably be considered too much (however, you never really know.) It's great that you're considerate of sellers, though!

I would consider "erotica" to be adult oriented and a violation of the terms, no matter what customer support says. The reason is simple: I don't trust support that much. If a single trust and safety agent decides that it's not ok, it won't help you to say "but support told me that..." So generally, i prefer a wider interpretation of the terms.

Romance with a bit of spice (something that would get a PG-13 rating if it were a film) isn't what I would consider adult oriented, though. I haven't read your stories, so I can't tell, but from your description I'd guess we're into Shades of Grey territory? That one got rated R in the US and 16 or 18 in most other countries. I might consider that "adult oriented".

But based on the gigs I can find on the marketplace, your gig should be fine. I can only assume that Fiverr views writing erotica as a perfectly acceptable service.

A review of adult oriented services is not "erotica". So I don't think Fiverr's view on that is relevant in this specific case. However, it shows us that Fiverr holds different types of gigs to different standards, and that the terms aren't clear on what's ok or not. Which is why I prefer to interpret "adult oriented" as "everything that wouldn't get a PG-13 rating".

Ah, I guess I managed to make my point (because yes, there is a point, though you also mentioned it somewhat) basically, written gigs (so things that don't contain any images/sound/etc. do seem to be regarded to different standards. I'm not sure why myself, but I wouldn't be surprised if CS agents were to say a review would be fine.

(I was once asked to write something scandalous but not erotica, just based on something very riské. The order was made before I knew what it was so I didn't want to cancel, CS said it was perfectly fine as long as I was okay with it.) Again, could be different from a review but it really is sort of hard to tell I guess.)

I do think that the TOS is changing constantly, I remember it being somewhat different before but I guess that makes sense with all the new rules and stuff. I suppose we'll see where things take us.

(I don't particularly feel at risk for myself, just thought of sharing what little I know about this as it WAS very recently that I chatted with CS about it, so...!)
