Quality of work does not match examples - Very misleading

Recommended Posts

I hired two different graphic artists for book covers based on the quality of the example work they promoted.

What I received was total crap compared to the examples displayed.
There is no conceivable way the artist I hired was the artist that created the sample art they promoted to lure me into hiring them.

Is there some way Fiverr can screen people?
The service was cheap…I guess you get what you pay for, but if this is what I can expect from Fiverr, I will go somewhere else, spend more and hire qualified artists that are not lying and misleading customers about their ability.

This is thing some of us more experienced Sellers are very much trying to change.

This isn’t entirely a Fiverr thing as it is a weakness of humans that creates the situations that allows these things to happen. Laziness (greed) is the cause and an issue on both sides of the equation. The more buyers want Ferraris for $5, the more poor quality sellers will get into finding ways to play that game.

Again, quality sellers hate that and wish Fiverr could be more active in being “hammer of the gods” on it but they can’t/won’t. So we have to try to adjust the other side which is talking to buyers who think that they will really get a “perfect” Ferrari for $5 as they not only lead themselves into frustration but give everyone a bad name as they encourage the sorts of operators you have encountered. What I call garbage merchants.

There are good people here, like anything you have to know how to find them. If we could just remove the garbage it would be easier as people who promise one thing (usually using images they stole) and delivers another are a cancer.

Better people will tend to show work that is more unique, less formulaic as this is usually real client work.

The only thing you can do is react. As mentioned above, honest sellers would love for Fiverr to be proactive, but it’s not part of their business model.

Here’s the relevant part of the TOS:

  • Buyers may use the “Request Revisions” feature located on the Order Page while an Order is marked as Delivered if the delivered materials do not match the Seller’s description on their Gig page or they do not match the requirements sent to the Seller at the beginning of the order process.

Sellers must deliver the same quality of service as shown on their Gig images. Recurring deliveries that don’t match the quality shown on the Gig images may lead to the Seller’s account losing Seller status or becoming permanently disabled.

Furthermore, Fiverr is not responsible for the content, quality or the level of service provided by the Sellers (even if they are Pro Sellers, Top Rated Sellers, offer Promoted Gigs or otherwise). We provide no warranty with respect to the Gigs, their delivery, any communications between Buyers and Sellers, and the Logo Designs created through the Logo Maker. We encourage users to take advantage of our rating system, our community and common sense in choosing appropriate services.

experts or specialist never sell their services at cheap prices! because they know their niches and industry, for example i sell adwords setup and optimization, most ppl in here sell for $5, but I understand my industry, $5 are worth a few clicks in google ads, so for google advertiser money is not an issue!

but I do understand most buyer will prefer with cheap prices because they was hoping that their $5 can turn into $5k, but just like you said, you get for what you pay! 🙂
