I should probably preface by saying that I haven't been on Fiverr much recently, but I still do get notifications...

... and I've run into a strange situation recently where I keep getting the same-ish request over and over again under different accounts.

The request is always the same:

The "buyer" asks me to review their Android games on the Amazon Appstore for some amount of compensation, and they say they will cover the cost upfront.

All of my 🚨 scam senses 🚨 are tingling.

My question is, does anyone know anything about this? If my suspicions are correct... my question is: how does the scam work? My current theories are that:

1. Scammer makes an excuse after some amount of time into the process that they can't cover the cost at the front end, and try to convince you to do it at the back end... at which point, seller gets ghosted and has downloaded 10 paid apps.
2. That there are tricky-to-avoid in-app microtransactions 📱 that they use to generate enough revenue to offset any costs of covering the app downloads at the front end.

I suppose it's possible it's just a way to increase their SEO ranking 📈 on Amazon, but something tells me that dropping 59.90 for ten games PER each person they're soliciting can't possibly be sustainable, and I've got a feeling there must be some other angle...

Does anyone know the specifics of how this (probable) scam works? Legitimately curious.

(Note: I've received these kinds of messages, like... three times so far. I managed to find two of the messages in my inbox, where I've blurred out the usernames below.)

It seems like a scam. As you said that you got similar messages before, then it's scam. Report it.

Personally, if someone asks me to do something that is not related to any of my gigs, I will just pass it.

I have experienced the same since the beginning of my Fiverr journey. I would say that 60% of buyers (or more) who reached me out asked details about my services, discussed then vanished.

I am used to it, and do not really mind about it at all because I think it's like shopping; they ask then if it is not suitable to them, they go. Some will say thank you, some will just go.

I understand your concern. We all know that there are something we could not understand about the SS. Anyway, I would recommend you to keep your Fiverr open not totally leaving. As you said, your old buyer might be back to you for some projects.

After exploring to your gigs, I think there are many things to be improved so that you can get your first order soon. Mainly about your gig pictures. Make it more clearer. If possible, use white background instead of black. And with 3D view is much better as a gig gallery. Buyers will be attracted to what you show. So make it more attractive as you can. You can check the other gigs in your category to get inspired about their gig pictures gallery and description. But do not copy their gigs.

Try @designcore69 advice. If it does not work, logout and re-login to your Fiverr account on the mobile app.

You can keep those 3 gigs. Fiverr will pause 3 of your gigs automatically. You can manage it yourself too and decide which one would you pause and which one would you want to activate.

As @smartdezigns said, you must remember your security question in order to change your old phone number into a new one, and going to the next process of adding payout method. I am sure that this is the answer you will get from CS.

I think that's OK. But I recommend you to use your own devices with Fiverr to avoid issues like location inconsistency. Use your desktop/laptop, and you can use your mobile phone or tablet when you are not at home.

If you had 6 gigs before, Fiverr will pause 2 of your gigs. You can keep those 6 gigs. And if you reach the level 1 you can activate the 2 other gigs.
