Creating a gig

Is it very important to upload sample work while creating a gig. I am new to the site, so little kinda confuse. i need help people. Any tips and suggestion will be appreciated.

If your portfolio feature is turned on, previously delivered work will show up as samples. These appear after work has been delivered and a review is submitted by the customer.
