Thank you, @Kesha for this article. It is indeed very insightful for every seller. Honestly, I have a small question related to this. If we use a self-designed logo as our profile picture instead of our own photo, what kind of impact could that have? Fiverr suggests using a personal photo as it is considered a better and more professional option. However, if we use a logo, does that not convey professionalism? This is because there are certain services where a logo might attract buyers more effectively compared to a personal photo.

Hi @mrubaid820

This is a great question, and honestly, there are no right or wrong answers.

Our suggestion to use a personal photo is based on our understanding of buyer behaviors when purchasing online, which indicates that they like to do business with whom they can feel a personable connection. Understandably, buyers prefer to do business with people, not logos.

But, at the end of the day, it's a suggestion we make and the choice is ultimately up to you!

Subject: Need Advice for Getting My First Order on Fiverr

Message:
Hello everyone,

I hope you all are doing well. I am new to Fiverr and have recently created my first gig. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share some tips or advice on how to get my first order.

Here’s the link to my gig: {https://www.fiverr.com/s/0bNvpWL}

Please let me know if there’s anything I can improve in my gig description, pricing, or overall presentation. Your suggestions would mean a lot to me.

Thank you in advance for your time and guidance!

Best regards,
Aashish

In summary, to get that first order, it’s important to invest time and effort in optimizing your profile and gigs.

It's normal tips. I have done everything that you have written, but no result. So I think nowadays Fiverr follows this policy, which is called "To carry coal to New Castle." Sorry to say that.

If we get an order then Fiverr try to improve our gig rank/impression. Otherwise, Fiverr won't know us. LOL

Congratulations on starting your freelance journey. While there is potential for great success on Fiverr, remember that the journey to a thousand orders always starts with one. Here are some simple tips and tricks to help you get that first order and help you build momentum on your freelance career:

Optimize Your Profile
Think of your profile as your business card. This is your chance to make a positive first impression and highlight what makes you unique. Be sure to include a professional, clear and friendly photo as your profile picture. You should also fill out as much information as possible about yourself, your skills, and your experience.

Optimize your Gig
To attract that first customer, it’s important to pay special attention to how your gig is set up. Focus on the following:

  • Titles, tags, and descriptions- Include a clear title that includes keywords relevant to your offering. Your gig should also have a detailed description of your service and why a buyer should choose you for their next project. For expanded reach, don’t forget to add relevant tags as well.
  • Pricing- When starting out, consider offering competitive pricing lower than your more seasoned competitors. This can help you attract more buyers. Once you start to gain traction and build reviews, you can revisit your pricing structure.
  • Portfolio- This is your chance to show, not just tell, buyers what you can do. Include samples of past projects you’ve worked on and, if possible, include things like testimonials and before-and-after’s to showcase the impact of your work. For more portfolio tips, visit here.

Remain professional and responsive
When potential buyers reach out to you, it’s important to showcase your professionalism, expertise, and friendliness. Answer all buyer questions promptly, our suggestion is within 24 hours, to protect your metrics and also give buyers a positive impression of you. When responding, be attentive to their needs by answering all their questions and asking clarifying questions as needed.

 Be Patient and Persistent
Success doesn’t just happen overnight so it’s important to remain patient as you wait for your first order. Once your profile and gigs are optimized, the best thing to do is wait. In the meantime, prioritize learning and improving your skillsets. For example, you can check out our free Fiverr Learn course, where you’ll learn all the essentials on how to be successful on Fiverr.

In summary, to get that first order, it’s important to invest time and effort in optimizing your profile and gigs. Once you do this, remain patient and always strive for professionalism when interacting with buyers. Do these things and it will only be a matter of time until you get that first order.

Thanks for the Tips, I have a different question. I was a Top rated seller. But now I am a low performing seller with no levels (Success Score is 4). Now I need to improve my seller account and gigs to get orders. Now I am promoting my gigs on social media. Please advice me to get my success score over 5.

Hi there!

Since the Success Score factors so many different things, it's hard for me to give you tailored advice on improving.

I would recommend reading over this Help Center article that breaks down all the different key areas.

In addition, the Seller's Communication Hub contains many valuable tips and templates for improving your metrics.

Hope this helps, and good luck on your journey.
