  1. Why being so obsessed about random strangers getting $25 (or not)?

The whole point of the post was to give some helpful tips to save sellers money, it is only natural to include the part where they can get $25 for free. Especially since they lose that possibly forever if they sign up without it. People deserve to know.

It’s nice you want to help people but this isn’t the place. 😄

  2. Posting a referral link that is beneficial to the reader and definitely relevant to the post doesn’t break these rules in my opinion. It doesn’t contain identifying information about me either.

Depends on how you interpret the rules I guess, but if there aren’t any other rules than the ones you quoted I don’t really see what was wrong with the post.

definitely relevant to the post doesn’t break these rules in my opinion.

Sorry but it does break the rules. We can’t post our own links that promote something such as signing up for anything no matter how helpful you think they are.

This would become one big advertising forum if that was allowed with everyone posting all sorts of links to sign up for things. It is not the purpose of the forum.

  3. Sure, I could do that. However a lot of information is lost by writing it this way. My post was made to include all the numbers and information needed to make it easier for sellers to decide if they should make the switch.

An important point from that post is also that Fiverr actually gives the wrong information about fees involved and if I leave it up to the readers of the post to do the research there is a good chance that they will make the wrong choice because of this misinformation.

It would also be a waste to not get the $25 referral bonus when signing up. I didn’t know about this when first signing up and therefore I lost the $25 I would have gotten for free if I used a referral link. I’m not saying that people should use my link, but they should definitely us someones link.

Because of this I think my original post is more beneficial to readers than your suggestions.

So your link was a referral link for people to sign up. Yes that’s definitely not allowed as it is a type of self promotion.

  4. I’m going to say that sometimes things are removed where the actual rule is not specifically spelled out. We (including myself) sometimes find out what is not allowed after we post it. I have come to accept this as part of the way this forum is set up. So if you need to see in writing exactly what was wrong with something you posted you might never find it.

  5. @wp_kid Did you get this?

So that would mean I can post something similar without the referral link?

Could you also please let me know where in the ToS this is specified? I can’t remember reading about this and couldn’t seem to find it anywhere in the ToS.

I’m not sure exactly what rule was broken but you could try this:

Fiverr is a place where professionals across hundreds of industries come to grow their business. To maintain a respectful, inclusive, and safe environment for everyone, we’ve updated a set of standards to serve as a moral compass for behavior in our community. We see the community standards as a “living document” and plan on updating them in an ongoing process. The community standards include five sections: Integrity and AuthenticityIntellectual PropertyObjectionable ContentViolence and Cr…

Also, the moderator is a volunteer and will see your question when he is able to, so no need to send repeat messages to him.

  6. Now that I think of it; does this also work against PayPal refund scams? Most sellers have to wait 14 days for a payout, with sometimes having the risk of having the buyer to refund through PayPal. What do you guys think?

does this also work against PayPal refund scams?

No. You can have chargebacks even if you have withdrawn the earnings from your orders. It would show a negative balance in your earnings which would cause future earnings to be taken from you until the chargeback was paid.

However you will be refunded for any false chargebacks anyway by fiverr.

  7. I personally highly doubt that I can become a millionaire on fiverr. But I’ve read a few stories of people turning in some impressive numbers monthly. The numbers that would, in theory, make them millionaires in a year or so.

I don’t know where they find the time it takes to do so many orders as they do. The voice actress does at least 20 a day. You need a crazy amount of orders to make what they earn.

to became a millionaire is something harder nowadays.

    Don’t you think so?

No it depends on each person’s ability. Some are joining who deserve to become millionaires and will become millionaires. It’s like anything else in life. Some can do it and have the talent while there are many others who have no talent.

  9. There are tons of sellers on the forum who talk about discussing things like the algorithm with support. As if the support staff are going to have any insider knowledge on that. They would could sell or use any real info they have for far more than their annual salary.

There was one a while back who did seem to know, he was always helpful to everyone. They all have sort of a different feel now. Not bad, just different. There was a small handful and you knew right away how helpful they would be.

How many times a day do you suppose they get asked how do I make a sale? How do I get my first sale? How long does it take?

  10. Why bother having a Customer Support team if they offer nothing but stock replies and no personal service whatsoever.

For this you can probably blame the thousands of sellers who create ticket after ticket asking for help, orders, money, and various other things which are nothing to do with support along with others who make tickets for things they could google/find in the seller info area/forum.

That’s why the template answers came into being some time back. Before that it was always a personalized answer but the sheer volume of new sellers on Fiverr (many of which will never sell anything) in the past couple of years, it takes a different system to deal with them now.

My own experience has generally been positive though. Occasionally an irrelevant template answer but then the second message would usually be personalized. I find brevity, clarity and screenshots where required tend to give a much better response by the way.

I feel bad for customer support agents if it’s anything like the forum.

  11. Yes, and I filled it out.

I wonder who sees that or what it is used for exactly.

I had a puzzling experience a few months ago. I saw a gig with personal contact information in it right in the description. I reported that twice but it was still there, nothing was done. First I was told that it would definitely be removed and was not allowed. Then the second time I asked about it was as if nothing had ever been done the first time. It was strange.

To this day, that gig invites people to contact the seller by email before ordering. I’m not sure what was going on but it seems that what I reported was simply ignored. It’s glaringly against the rules. I try to ignore rule violations I see in gigs now.

  12. I always wondered about articles that state when a large business have net loss in the millions.

Are they saying their profit decreased by that much or they were expecting their profit to increase by xx% but didn’t.

Ya know, like a steady 10% increase over the years but this year they only got a 5 % increase; therefore they had a net loss of (whatever).

Technically speaking, how can a company afford to continue with loss unless that loss isn’t really a loss.

how can a company afford to continue with loss unless that loss isn’t really a loss.

I’ve wondered about that too but they have financing to keep going until they do make a profit. Amazon had losses like that for years yet people kept buying the stock in the company and they were smart.
