However, many who want easy cash don't make it until that point, I guess.

It's not the life for everyone. Those months where next to nothing comes in play havoc on the fingernails, but on the other hand there isn't a set limit to what can be earned. I've made 20 grand in a day for an hours work more than once. Other days nothing. Hey ho. 🙂

(if any TRS/Pro has a different experience, I'd adore hearing it because I want that, too.)

It's not a bed of roses at all. I would say that being in the right place at the right time has served me well with a few things, but any success (and apparent luck) has been down to hard work and unflinching determination to be a successful freelancer doing what I love. And in my field of VO, acting and writing, success also comes with a lot of rejection, sometimes just because of physical appearance, and many jobs go to other people. I don't resent it, I'm happy when talented people succeed, but without an iron will, I would have buckled years ago. A bed of roses would be getting a full-time job doing something mindless and taking home a guaranteed income every month. (No offence intended to anyone who does have a full-time job).

Unless you think Elon Musk is launching rockets because he's lucky.

It's because he builds rockets for $5 with unlimited revisions. That could be why the last one exploded... better go with a pro rocket builder.

Instead of saying "button" we get "buh-ehn". Also some will say it's not "impor-ehnt" or "impor-dent."

Blurgh! They should be sent to elocution lessons at a school for ladies forthwith.

Needless to say I was shocked upon seeing this, because I didn't expect anything over 90 days to be relevant. Although i can only imagine anything over 90 days will not be as important. But it can still "haunt" you.

I've let go of worrying about Fiverr stats and I'm focussing on doing my best for every client. In the real world, one review below 4.7 or a negative private review isn't enough to trash a business.

  6. Whilst AI may eventually function well enough to replace all humans, why would anyone want it to? It's here, and we need to accept and embrace it, and it will change the employment market, but I don't believe that we're all in danger of becoming jobless and destitute. And if people have no jobs and no income, then how would economies thrive? Will AI also develop the need and ability to go out and buy stuff and book holidays for some downtime?
Unless we all end up with a universal basic income, we need to be able to earn money to spend money. It has brought us new challenges (but also enormous benefits). Some people are using AI to save money by not hiring a human, and some are using it to paste over their undeveloped skills or laziness. But it's not everyone, and if AI replaces us completely, then we lose a fundamental need: human connection, collaboration and exchange.
    That's my humble opinion.

The situation is that client wants 14-15 days time for making payment. If I send an offer they have to pay now.

The only way to do this is by completing and delivering the work and sending the client an offer to be accepted 15 days later. But everyone, the platform included, would strongly advise against this. Unless you've worked with them enough times in the past to know they're trustworthy, you can't guarantee that they will pay you.
When I work with new non-Fiverr clients, I request 50% of my fee upfront or send them the audio with a watermark. They only get the ready-to-use file once they've paid my full fee. My trusted regulars get their file, but I request payment within seven days. That helps to maintain solid business relationships because they know you trust them, but that takes time. I would Never deliver work on Fiverr without the payment made first.

I made this mistake once when I was a fresh fish and believed everyone had integrity. A buyer owed me almost $200 because he "accidentally" ordered a voice-over for a script at a much lower word count than it actually was. I called him on it, and he said he would pay the correct fee. I sent the request for additional payment, and two days passed without a word. So in my naivety, I sent him the file to avoid a late delivery (I should have contacted CS). He accepted the file without paying me. I sent him two messages after that reminding him that he needed to pay the correct fee but I never heard from him again. Now I don't care how nicely a client asks for freebies or a buy now pay later deal, it's a flat no.

Finally, focus the private feedback on the overall buyer experience, which is only partly controlled by the seller. If I was Fiverr, I would want buyer feedback on the platform itself, as much if not more than on the particular seller. Yet that doesn't happen. Why are sellers under strict scrutiny, but never the platform? I've never seen private feedback asking a buyer about the way the site itself is designed, the order flow, the features, etc.

This is my main issue with private reviews. Three vague questions that make no distinction between the experience with the seller and the experience with the platform. If the private review is bad because a client was dissatisfied with the way the platforms works, the seller is punished. Sellers should be held accountable for the service they deliver, that is in our hands, we shouldn't be held responsible for the way the platform works. I don't agree with forcing buyers to review before they can download their product. This would rub me up the wrong way as a buyer. It's irritating enough that buyers get multiple emails about this after their purchase.

I use Upwork too and the workflow is very messy there

It's not great to use as a Freelancer either. I used to do quite well on there but I hardly bother now. They may have introduced a similar direct order feature, but the general site doesn't seem to have moved along at all. It's clunky and not worth paying for additional connects in my opinion. Job descriptions can be extremely vague and the budgets for voiceover aren't worth the time it takes to write a proposal, even with the decrease in commission.

can claim fluency while they look the other way

Aside from my inbox, I might have to stay away from the general forum for a few days, perhaps pop in to scan for funny and useful responses from you guys. The dishonesty and laziness are grating on me. It's upsetting.

  11. It could be the AI voice you've used, it could be because you - or the AI voiceover - says that you are soon to be a top rated seller. There's no guarantee that you will receive the TRS even when you meet the basic requirements. The word "reviews" also comes up, maybe this flagged something. I don't know if the videos are manually or automatically assessed for violations. You could fix those things and see if that makes a difference.

  12. You're in a category with over 22,000 gigs offering the same service. It will take a while before you get any orders. Make sure you're being honest about your skills too. You say on your profile that you are fluent in English, but you have made mistakes in this post and in your gig descriptions.

I suggest a Zoom call for the folks in this thread with the SM team to discuss the issues at hand.

I think this could be productive, Mike. I agree that the advice to book in another call with our individual managers will only get us the same advice that the SM's can give us.

Maybe it can be noted that my sales have been so bad that I have downgraded my SP membership. Not only because I think my SM, as much as I appreciate them, probably can't tell me anything new, but because $29 is too much in comparison to the awful 2-3 months here. That's bad! I wanted to keep my SM as a point of contact, but when business is so bad it's money I need to put towards investing in other areas of my business.

The same advice isn't going to make any difference.

And we do know there are many outside factors too, but we're struggling yet all paying for success managers.

midnight is going to help you with the orders

Midnight isn't always. If a buyer looks for online sellers and needs a job doing immediately (red flag) then maybe it will get an online seller an order, but the people advising sellers to never go offline should stop. The only way to always show yourself as online is to use tools that break the platform rules or to never sleep. I get orders from clients in many different time zones. They're happy to wait until I'm awake.
