being online always is going to help you with orders

Honestly, I wish staying online would help me COMPLETE (not get in this case) orders. I'm sick as hell after travelling for a single weekend (yes, this happens every.single.time). If just keeping the tab open would write the stories... I'd be the happiest girl alive.

(that being said, no, not really. I'm sure that at some point it might have helped when the competition wasn't so bad, but if you and other 10 thousand people (in your category) are doing the same thing... chances of being picked is very very small.

Having a buyer account and having a seller account is not against TOS. You're not only a troll, but you're unable to read Fiverr's TOS. You are unqualified to comment on my post. (File embedded below)

I think you misunderstand etiquette. Caps are sometimes meant to be used for focusing on words and that includes using all caps on a focused word or multiple. I have been calm this entire time. The only one unprofessional here has been you for making a troll GIF after someone is trying to plead for their business's success. Is there a way I can block you on both accounts so you can no longer respond for being a troll? This was a serious post. And you were making fun of my business's downfall. I do not tolerate that.

Demanding to get the service everyone else asks for when my content was high quality and I did nothing wrong is reasonable, this is where I make one final statement. Do not further communicate with me; and do not make further comments on my post. I do not wish to speak to you.

If anyone else can help or reach Fiverr, please feel free to comment.

In a way, I understand you. I've lost my job from one day to another before and was even stuck in a foreign country at the moment, so imagine. However...

If Fiverr says they don't want your business there's a reason for that. Does that make you a bad artist? Not necessarily. You might just be trying to join at the wrong time (and yeah, having two accounts doesn't help. Not sure where the misconception it was OK came from but it's not. I'm sure you can think of a few reasons why.

I mean...a troll? Like someone's saying they can't sell their products, what they need to do to survive....and you send an eating popcorn GIF. This is why Fiverr is the way they are.

I'm sorry but is selling NFT art REALLY what you need to survive? It's a bit hard for me to grasp that. relying on freelance sites in a crisis honestly won't due you any good.

(It didn't help me either, trust me).

Take a deep breath, think about the comments you've gotten and see if maybe you were (at least a bit) in the wrong.

PS .: Oftentimes when you see your own gigs as a newbie, they seem flawless to you but they truly aren't. Maybe (if you can get your account through) there's ways for you to improve?

So can't we give a company name and put a customer's details in it? That is, can I give the name of a big company and a good client of mine can verify it by putting his link in it

It's just not how it works. Fiverr doesn't make the difference between you working for youtube vs editing a video on it (and etc.) which means that if you were to say 'I worked on x's channels' videos', you would be falsely showing that you worked for YOUTUBE itself instead (same goes for other big companies.) Even if someone can verify that you worked for them on x website, you still haven't worked with the official company, so you can't show that you did. In some cases this can be annoying (for games/small companies without websites and blogs) but generally, this is... basically common sense.

Why would you want to add companies you've never worked for anyway? Do you really think that would benefit you?

  4. Hey!
I'm not sure if it's Fiverr itself that's having issues - while I'm sure that Facebook ads might not be as popular as before, they are still quite big. If I were you, I would do two things:

    - Check my offerings from a buyer's standpoint. Am I relevant? Do I offer real value? Are my gigs good? Am I better than my competitors? Did I have any negative interactions lately that could be causing people to be wary of ordering from me? Is there anything I can do to redeem myself from that?

    - Check if there's anything else I can do. If FB ads aren't doing so well, why not try another type of ad (after, of course, taking the time to study them.) TikTok is huge right now, from what I know.

Once I'd done with those questions, I'd start looking into Fiverr (and all the changes, etc.) Even then, expanding the services you offer should be step one. I had a REALLY popular gig last year that made me a lot of money. By this year, the craze is over, and I've barely gotten orders for it. However, I've earned a lot more than I did in the first four months of last year. How? By studying the market and knowing what people are seeking right now!

Well, there are "cultures" out there that marry out girls at the age of 12, and worse. Up to you to know if that's harsh or not.

Yeah I... I do absolutely disagree with that. (but there's so much more to this whole topic, to be honest.) I don't want to sound ignorant, though (I'm very well aware of it, and my culture, while not so bad also supports (some) weird stuff that I wish could be just... erased (not gonna go into detail but yeah.)

Across the border, in lovely Sweden, you could add "snälla," meaning "please," derived from the word "snäll," meaning kind, nice, wonderful, sympathetic).

Swedes are very interesting. Many of the people I meet are very polite/kind but definitely not as open as say, Italian people, I know. It doesn't help that I prefer speaking English (though everyone is fluent!) When we were in Oslo, we were treated really kindly by most people, though (but I can see how your poor son wouldn't get waves/smiles back!) I think our worst interaction was with the seagull who stole my bf's hotdog!  It was honestly pretty cool though,  really nice to see a bit more of the North, even though I'm desperate to go warmer countries after the winter here!

(long story short, we went on a cruise that was supposed to have a brunch, and we had two pieces of (cold) sandwiches (half with cheese and nuts and the other with prawns I think) and two strawberries each, so we were very hungry in the harbour! )

I think this whole 'debate' (or just convo is very interesting in the end, because in many places I've been to, people might be 'fake' to tourists, but they are absolutely EXTRA polite (to get you to buy their stuff/etc.)...and sometimes noise. This might only be people in customer service but... I feel like we also do that, too, so...

I definitely wish for people to succeed, though, but I might have to accept the fact that it's not just a language barrier that is the issue.

PS.: I wouldn't mind paying if the spam stopped.

Actually, on that note, thank you for spending your time writing this. I know that must have taken a big chunk (I would not be surprised if it was more than an hour), and I want you to know that I acknowledge and respect your volunteered time attempting to help newcomers to the forums.

Honestly, the more I post and only see people who are well aware of what I'm posting even bother to reply, the more I feel like it's a bit of a waste of time. Coming from a small country I know how it is to be lost on the internet, so I think I'm desperately trying to help people who might really only need just a bit of a push.

'Disruptive' might be a better word. It has a similar feel of a parent telling their child to 'turn the game off, now' (as opposed to 'turn the game off before supper') and the game has no quick-save option, and it'll only take two minutes to get to the save point you just passed but forgot to save at.

I think this is probably the answer! Being rushed when offering help is weird enough to start with but the combo of no 'please/could/etc.' makes it feel sort of pushy. When someone says 'give me order' - it feels like an actual, well, order, and not a request which just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Words are hard. No matter the language.

Words are weird as well, which is partially why I wrote this post. As I've said - what I consider polite might look overly nice (or impolite!) in some places, which is the 'funny' bit. But... I also understand that you need to learn manners in the language you're speaking as you're studying it (we did it in school for English and French, which means that by the time I was out of school, it was really 'drilled' into me. What I want to do is help people who might not have had the chance to learn it the way I did.

But then again, even though I live a (very) privileged life now (compared to, say, my family), I also realize that I come from a 'rough' background as well. Maybe not as rough as many other people, but... if I could do it, others could as well, I suppose?

It took me 10 minutes to adapt. Intent.

It took me longer in China, but here (Sweden still), it was fairly easy even though it's VERY different from Hungary AND I know no Swedish (okay, now I know more. Italian/French/Mandarin I had a base in so I felt like it was easier to adapt?)

I think I always write it off as 'I'm used to adapting though'. To be honest, if there was just ONE person saying, 'oh, now I get it, thank you' I would push harder for my point because languages are hard but... yeah.

As both your forum friend and fellow witch, I say, build the (pay)wall.

Honestly, the more I think the more I feel like that would help in the long run. As much as I want equal chances for everyone, it clearly isn't helping when people are lying about basically everything!

Now what I do wonder about IS whether real (actually useful) material about the site IS available in different languages though or not. I feel like once we push through all the scam youtube videos, there has to be someone who's telling the truth, right? In English I've seen some (...and plenty of liars...)

Honesty: This is the interesting part to me. I don't subscribe to the theory that honesty is malleable or debatable, even across cultures. A shoplifter is a shoplifter in Brooklyn, Tehran and Belgrade. I have yet to find a any major culture that does not, on paper, state that theft, deceit and fraud are acceptable. What I do find is plenty of people who try to explain it away via relativism.

I suppose I did focus a bit more on fluency in this post, but I absolutely do NOT support dishonesty and do think that it should not be allowed to start with. It's honestly bizarre to me that people even think it's OK to lie like that - or that they don't get caught after 1-2 reviews, but... peer pressure. If you see someone with only great reviews (fake or not) it's a lot harder to speak up.

In retrospect, as a traveller, I've also only ever been treated kindly (except for that one hotel in France that was a crapshow but I take full responsibility for booking and not actually checking it out properly because 'I know Paris, this place looks awesome!'.

I just wish that there was a way to find the 'good eggs' and support them, I guess? But that's incredibly difficult when there are governments telling them to join fake schools and freelance...

Some cultures are better than others. Namely, the more adaptable ones. In Rome, be roman. If your culture prevents you from following what works in a certain market / context, your culture sucks. If, on the other hand, your culture promotes flexibility and adaptation, that's a productive culture. It will work well for you.

I understand where you're coming from, but I do think that saying 'your culture sucks' is a bit harsh. However... flexibility in this time and age is needed. Education in foreign languages and cultures should be a priority as well (but I know it isn't, only in private schools/etc.) I guess the way I think (maybe I'm too much of an optimist) is that if we give people the environment to learn, they will do so.

But then again, I think about how people from my country had the same possibilities (teachers, schools, etc.) and some still never learned English fluently (lol). Maybe it IS about personal effort as well, which I often seem to disregard somehow.

I got two of those yesterday. They were a bit more polite.

Honestly, I do think part of this is due to cultural differences. I understand the annoyance with spam/scams, though (I don't even know how much $ I lose due to promoting for spam/etc.) but... I think there could be ways to educate people.

  9. I don't think there's anything truly wrong with it, but to be honest, I'm not sure how popular these gigs can get at this point since there are just so many of them (and you can just talk to people online.) Your title is a bit weird at a second glance; I would do something different ('I will chat with you about your worries/etc.), but yeah.

Is there maybe something else that you could provide that's a bit more niche than just chatting?

  10. Disclaimer: This is partially just my personal opinion/based on my own experiences and travels. However, it might help someone.

I think we all agree that with the advancement of AI / etc. - it's gotten easier to close the gap between languages and cultures. After all, it's a lot easier to translate things if needed (or even craft entire texts when talking to someone.) However, that (for now, at least) is not enough for fluid communication.

I'm quite sure that most experienced sellers (and even those who are new) on here have gotten messages like 'hy. help me with order' (and many other versions) or even genuine orders with not-so-perfect English.

Languages are hard and second languages are even harder. Perhaps the hardest to master because that's the first time you're really opening up your brain to something. Once you know, say, English, other languages from similar roots won't be so hard to 'get'.

However, until then, things aren't so easy, and part of that is actually due to cultural differences.

I've noticed a pattern on the forum especially - people will claim to speak English fluently, but the second they post, we know it's not true. Why?

It's due to all those nuances that native-level speakers don't even think about. Now, do I think it's OK to lie? No. BUT I do think there is always room for improvement.

Okay, Kata, you've been rambling for this long, but what's the advice here?

Well, first of all, don't lie. It's completely fine to be learning a language. While Fiverr is an English-based website, as long as you can sell yourself, I think you still have a chance.

Secondly though? There's a lot that can be done.

Observe other written material and try to see what you might be missing. Something I noticed is that English is an overly polite language compared to many others. You won't see me going to someone (on here or on the site) and writing, 'hi, here is an order for you' if I'm asking them to do something for me.

    What will I do?

I will start by saying hi, yes (and maybe a quick intro), but then, I will go: Do you think you can help me with x, please? Or: Could you do x for me?

In many languages (one that I'm familiar with personally due to having lived where it's spoken mostly), you often drop the formalities, especially in an informal setting. I've seen people yelling to get the waiters' attention in restaurants, and that's perfectly fine with their language. (they often do say thank you/etc. but the structure of things is completely different.)

English doesn't work that way. Things that you can skip in other languages because they are referred to contextually (by other terms, like talking to someone respectfully by calling them Miss/Sir/etc. or others) often should not be skipped in English Saying 'help me now with how to get order' isn't necessarily wrong but it rubs readers the wrong way.

Now why I'm not sure (I skipped those classes in particular :P), but it's just how it is. Saying, 'Hey, could you guys (please) take a look at x gig for me' sounds better. We know what you mean to start with, of course, but it just flows weirdly.

Something that I want to add is that this won't be an easy switch because, honestly, it's hard to flip-flop between languages and find all the nuances that set them apart. However, the more you try, the easier it will become. And your general English level will improve slowly as well.

Now, do I think we have to be overly nice all the time? Nah. However, learning the unwritten rules really helps (both here and on Fiverr itself.)

There are, of course, other things, but I wanted to focus on this topic for now.

(this works in the reverse as well by the way; I was looked at like I was crazy saying 'thank you thank you' twenty times when someone let me cross the road in the country I'm referring to, etc. but... that's a story for another day.

    Tl.dr.:

Complete sentences help you seem more polite and be understood easier.

edit: just so no one misunderstands - I'm not saying people from x countries are impolite. I'm saying that languages work differently and while you're being nice in say, English, you could be impolite in other languages. They are all structured and formed very differently, which makes this possible.)

(why do I know that? hm.)

  11. Just another thing that I noticed (not entirely related to the topic, but yes to promotion/etc.) I've been getting a LOT more messages completely unrelated to what I do (and seemingly not scams), from asking for programming (I state I do NOT do it, same as art) to art and just other things. It's just weird.

  12. I think in a way, SP has given me a lot (I love having my SM for random questions and ideas, I love some of the features) but it's also brought in the same-ish level of anxiety. Knowing if there is a drop (which I was told twice before) but not knowing how to 'correct' it (even if I was given hints/etc.) is just a bit... difficult, I suppose. If there's a reason, by all means, I deserve to be in 'Fiverr Jail', but the only way for me to know that is if I am told what I can improve (other than generic 'better keywords, etc.' I did get one great tip that made me sort of focus more on streamlined communication and correcting some typos (not proud of the time I didn't have glasses, the broken ones made it worse, and I really was underperforming a bit though it wasn't on purpose, I did everything the same, I just couldn't see .

The other thing made me focus on sort of clear talk with buyers, which I struggle with, but it works ( it's fewer pleasantries and more 'hey, this is my process, we are doing step 1. If you like what I send, let me know. If not, let me know what you'd like tweaked'.

That really helped, to be honest, but I wish we could get more info like this, I think? Or just a view into our ratings (from the inside) and what the buyers might think could be improved.

It's somewhat of a relief to learn that I was not or am not the only person going through a slump. Mine is a little more sucky, in my opinion, though, as you can see from my attachment. But there's a backstory to my dilemma. So, I admit to the lateness of the order. I had a client whom I was waiting to hear back from so I could deliver her work. It was important for her to answer my question. I did not want to deliver something that had not been completed, and I know some people deliver incomplete work, but I don't. So, the time passed, no word from her, and my delivery ended up being 5 hours late. I was not overly worried. This was my first late order ever. I saw my percentage drop to 86 or something like that. However, I figured I'd get another order, and all would be well. I got another order a few days later. My percentage increased to 88. I was feeling better, and I got another order, and it went to 90. Yet, the next day, it went back down to 89 😞. I did some checking and realized that my gigs were no longer being featured or even seen on the platform. I received no messages either—nothing for weeks.  So, I asked Customer Support how am I supposed to get another order if my gigs have been "removed?"  They told me to wait for an order from a repeat customer. That didn't happen until it was too late. On March 15, I got demoted.

So, yeah...But I'm still sticking around and trying not to be bitter about it. It definitely hasn't affected my work ethic or quality of work.

But I agree that it is strange that so many people had similar problems during this time. Hopefully, things improve, but we all understand the inconsistencies of this type of business.

    image.png.838de7ebb0ebdd99e7f94810adaf80a5.png

Honestly, I don't think it's fair to lose it all for a single late order / bad review. So many things can happen. Do you think maybe CS could have helped extend your delivery by a few hours? I haven't had it happen but that could be useful?

What I do usually if the delivery time is a bit weird (order was placed at a weird time or the buyer is slow to get back to me OR I just need an extra hour for editing to whatever) is that I try to extend just one day. If they don't accept it is bad but the extra notification / etc. usually helps people respond if they need to.

Still, your situation makes sense in a way (you basically had one less order completed on time than needed I guess) but for one order to hold so much weight, especially when we sometimes NEED people to answer...

    It's just sad.

I hope you'll get your badge back and that you'll be past your slump soon!

Yup, though you won't be happy - it's not a good idea. If you want to practice your craft, you can just do that (in whatever app you use) and get the same results since if you do something for free, you won't really have any orders - which means that you won't get reviews/etc. It's just not worth it, unfortunately.

I had NO interest in playing it myself. So I watched a Let's Play.

I've seen my boyfriend play it but I might give it a try-finally! There's a lot of stuff I've been just getting and trying out (some I love, some I'm 'nah' about.) I might play Breath of the Wild soon as well, I've been hogging the switch to play Pokémon, but we have that as well so it could be fun! I'd wanna play that before getting the newest game I guess.

Weird question - did you try the new Harry Potter game?

Aaah, yeah, same one then! We've played a few others (the cemetery one, the first one, the haunted roller coaster and the lab plus the advent calendar from a while back). We sometimes take several sessions to play, sometimes a few nights (we have one sort of on pause at the moment because eh. Been a bit busy I guess?) We do play it in English luckily though I've almost bought the German one a few times...

I like playing cards, especially poker - but only for play money. We also played some Escape games recently in Switzerland, we were staying in a classic old hut with no internet so we played, it was great. I'm also partial to the occasional session of Hitman. I have World of Assassination. I like games where I can sneak around and not get into major conflict. A bit like how I treat the forum sometimes.

Which brand of escape games did you guys play? (if it's OK to ask). We've played a lot of EXIT games which were really fun at first but I've been craving something else for a while - not sure exactly what just yet, though we did play an Arkham Horror one that was a lot of fun (it was hybrid on PC and with actual cute little props. We put some of those away to reuse in games that we host so it was a pretty good deal in the end.

I've never played Hitman or similar games I think! Used to be hugely into older horror games but mostly to watch them because I couldn't afford them and wasn't a good pirate. Now that I can buy games, I mostly play indies that are either cosy or just full-on roguelike!

I finally got around to playing Night in the Woods (not done yet, but close), which I'm super happy with so far! We also played Return of the Obra Dinn (I played it, my boyfriend watched and sniggered since he's finished it twice in the past. ) It was a lot of fun!

I guess I like... puzzles? And board games that are chill like Azul or Potion Explosion.

(..also, toooootally not buying Everdell today...:P)

That's my main concern. I guess they don't want us to know. Or was it just a weird email bug when they were setting it up and had nothing to do with whatever that's going on?

Like, are we seeing too much into it?

I know bugs are 'normal' (my boyfriend's game that he's finishing up has tons of them. It's no biggie), but... I don't like the way this whole situation was handled. (...or... not handled. ha.)

I don't see Requests option at all.

I had a look, and I can't see it either, to be honest - maybe if you get a notification that someone had responded to it you'll be able to access it? (I know it's not ideal, but yeah, doesn't show up here either.)

I guess you do risk some sellers thinking that you're changing your mind or a bit odd, but honestly, I don't think a lot of the same people will get them in a row (since these go to only a few at the time), so the risk of them even remembering is pretty small. If they ask you why, you can just tell them that you weren't sure about some things first. Still better than the alternative (which wouldn't be you, I'm sure, but) where people make seemingly good briefs with a high budget and then decrease it. Since these are fixes custom offers (or...should be in a way), I feel like it'd be a bit odd to be able to tinker things later, but I get your point!

  19. I'm one of the few who seem to be doing fine, but if I'm being honest, I likely am not making anything close to people based in the US (or just more-seasoned freelancers in general.) My March was great on Fiverr but awful health and mental health-wise, partially because of all that's going on. I had some rough clients in Feb-March who really triggered me (even if some of it wasn't their fault), and I'm definitely on edge because I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I've decided to make some new gigs (...I might start writing (sort of) non-fiction, though still heavily tied to games) and some other things, and I'm also working on getting a visual aid for my process and portfolio. Just in general, I'm trying to revamp things and see how that works, but also not ruin everything by tinkering with the wrong thing, which is honestly a bit scary.

It's funny how I'm doing well but constantly anxious and paranoid, but I'm also trying to work on it, I guess? I'll be opening up on other sites and starting my business (I think I can say as much - I hope to make and host custom mini-escape rooms and treasure hunts/etc, here in Stockholm) potentially towards the end of the year/next year as well so I'll need to start thinking about that as well!

In the end, I just hope that things will get better slowly for everyone!

That's so weird, for example, if I don't get any responses, I may need to increase my budget, since Seller may not be interested in my current budget or I want to update the information on my Project posted, how to do that. 🙄

From my understanding, they are 'one-use' projects - you can't really alter them much once they are sent through, or at least I couldn't when I tried to do it. One of the reasons would be the fact that sellers see them as a notification only once, and they either accept (and message you or send you a quote) or reject them. After that, they are passed down to other sellers (I think) or you are told that there were no matches.  Changing things around would likely be confusing in the long run.

What you should be able to do though, if you know what you want to change, is just send a new one with the fixed changes and different pricing.

I do think you should be able to cancel this somewhere (isn't there an option called 'requests' or something similar still?

PS.: Some sellers will still message you if the quote isn't exactly right, just to see (since some buyers are new and don't, say, give a wordcount for books or similar, just a 'write me x for $100'. I wouldn't be worried about that.)

Pray to God. Nothing else to do😣

I wish it was that easy. Unfortunately, while I am sure that praying heals the soul, I really do not think it will help in this case.

I am working in fiber with video editing I have three gigs one gig i have 5 star review. The gig was working and ranked well. Suddenly a buyer canceled my one order and after that my gig started down from the first page. Fiverr used to suggest me on its own, now it doesn't either What can I do to rank my gig? Please seek expert advice.

    Thank you

Your description and gigs don't really match up, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. Your gigs are almost identical at a first glance and offer the same thing.

Honestly? As a buyer, I wouldn't trust you. The cancellation might have been why you took a hit but there is a lot more to it likely.

I would start by taking a good look at your account and thinking about how to improve it from a buyer's view. What would YOU need to trust someone offering these services?

  22. I also got the all-clear from my SM - it was a mistake for me as well (which I guess I predicted once everyone was getting the same reply.) I'm honestly a bit torn - as it's been sad, I think we really should have been told 'hey guys, sorry, this was a fluke' without having to reach out ourselves.

I'm honestly not sure if it IS connected to the drop people are having, but at this point, everything is a possibility. It makes sense it wouldn't affect me that much (since I mostly worked with return customers and have some really niche gigs), so...

I know you’re testing your luck when you “ask” me about my prices.

I feel like people think it's smart even though my prices are VERY clear. I always guess that some people just don't care enough to check them out which is perhaps even worse (they want to work together, but can't even look at it...)

I hate it when you say “if you do a good job” you’ll purchase more orders.

This is my 'favourite' though.  I don't go to a restaurant and tell the waitress, 'if the food is good I'll be back'. Do I perhaps think it? Absolutely, though that's because 2 of our fave places were closed last year (RIP Chinese place with the best mapo tofu I cannot recreate). I guess I don't like the honeypot approach (which I think is pretty obvious.)

    Was it something I said?

Nope, post was pretty hidden by all the current happenings.

(again, I wish I could reply in a quirky way but I need coffee first. We just got this awesome salted caramel blend, it's really tasty as a latte!)

Just got a response from my SM. This is beyond ridiculous. Other people who got the e-mail - contact your SM's. @newsmike @leannelrivers @williambryan392 @katakatica

    (Also - I f***ing knew it couldn't be accurate).

I reached out in my usual rambly/scared style (the email gave me a minor panic attack so), but we'll see I guess? If it's just a mistake, that's a bit of a wild one, especially if they didn't realise it was sent out as a mistake...

(could have been real for me I guess? I don't know anymore.)

Judging by the quality of the people who are getting it, I would actually kinda be more worried if I didn't. Seems to be great company. If all the top guys fall for it, it means nothing. Their system is screwed up. Also, I had next to no first time buyers in this period, so this doesn't even make any sense.

That's the thing! How can your rate dip if you don't have any first time buyers?

If I look back at the past 3 months, I had about 40 orders. 10-15 of that were new (which sounds like a lot) either to more or Fiverr, but at least 5 of those if not more reordered. I'm still getting normal messages from new people as well.

I'm also a bit confused as to why send it out to so many at the same time. Even if it's automated and a new feature, it just feels a bit odd to me. But I guess hopefully we'll be heard and be able to learn more about what we mess up later? Maybe?
