Does fiverr also takes fee from costumer tips?

valiente_studio

Question

So I got hired for a $220 gig and the costumer gave me a $33 extra tip.

The payment is clearing but the numbers don't match or maybe I don't know how this works.

I undestand Fiverr takes a 20% fee but it should be from the gig, not the tip, right?

This is whats clearing:

From de $220 payment, Fiverr is clearing  $176 (should be $183)

From the $33 tip, Fiverr is clearing $26.40 (should be $27.5)

What am I getting wrong?

Yes. Fiverr takes fee from the tip as well.

Your calculations are wrong. Fiverr is clearing the right amount. 20% of $220 is $176 and $33 is $26.40.

You are absolutely right. I was making the calculations with my country taxes formula. But I did got my answer which was the Tip one. It's a bummer that Fiverr takes an amount of something that was given as a gift. It should be retained only the gig fee.

Regardless, thank you very much!

Obviously if that would be the case, people would start manipulating the system and trying to use tips as a way to avoid fees. That's why tips are taxed the same as regular orders.
