Buyer canceled an order that I already started

Hello, I just want to share with you something that happened to me a few days ago and made me kinda sad and angry with Fiverr.

A buyer contacted me, we were talking about what they need and then they placed the order. 12 or 13 hours later the buyer contacted me again saying that they wanted to cancel the order because they changed their mind, I tried to explain to them that I was working on the order and was unfair to cancel because I have more orders and having to cancel an order means that I wasted my time and maybe my rating would be affected. The buyer sent me a request to cancel and I declined it, I asked them why they wanted to cancel and their reply was just ''I changed my mind, I didn't think about ti enough and I do not want this anymore'' I tried to explain to them again that I'd been working on it for a few hours and I was not agree with cancelation. They sent me the request again and once again I declined it.

At this point I decided to contact Fiverr support, and they told me that they could cancel the order with 0  effects on my profile or I was also able to continue with the order, I decided to continue since it was already started. A few hours later I recieved a notification that Fiverr's team canceled the order, I asked them why and they just told me ''the buyer changed his mind''. I tried to explain to Fiverr team that I felt that so unfair since the order was started and they just replied me with the same reason.

Then... why the cancelation request exists?? if a buyer can cancel it asking to Fiverr's team and they would do it without asking the seller first?

This is so unfair, I wasted my time on a order and I am not gonna be paid for it just because the buyer ''changed his mind''...

I feel your frustration for depriving yourself and other clients of your time.

However, deciding to continue was very unwise. Customer support rescued you.

The buyer was very clear that he did not want to proceed. Forcing the order upon him could end up in your profile being tanked for a while. They could tell Fiverr that the order was not useful to their needs in the private survey.

In life, we have to learn to cut our losses. This time you lost some time. It could have been far worse. You were unbelievably lucky.

I can't agree with you at all, maybe they could leave a bad review or something, but is still unfair that a buyer can cancel an order anytime if they want to

Yes, it is not fair to us but, we have to play by the rules.

It seems to me that you have never seen the dreaded “Your gigs cannot be promoted right now” and you have no idea of the punishment that is available.

You could potentially lose your business for more than a month.
