Is there a local business market research gig for all business types?

I'm sure this is probably too much for one gig, but figured i'd ask anyway just in case.

I've been interested in looking into potential business opportunities in my area. Industries that have been lacking or don't have a lot of presence, things that can be capitalized on, etc. From what i've been finding, i see gigs that can do market research for your pre-existing business and it's industry. But i haven't been able to find a gig that will analyze all industries or businesses within an area, let's say the size of a city.

I'm not sure if I can't find it because it doesn't exist because it's too much work for one gig, or because i'm not searching for it right

Does anybody know if such gigs exist?
