Buyer accepted order and wants changes a week later

mandytriple9

Question

Hi all! I completed an order about a week ago for a 60 second ugc style advertisement video with a script I wrote. The buyer said they loved it and accepted it right away, we had some back and forth after about me changing the file type and size, and then a few days later he asked about changing the dimensions, all of which I handled. I got a message today that the video isn’t performing as well as he hoped on the platform- ie people aren’t engaging with the ad as much as he hoped- and he wants me to create an entirely new video, new script, everything. Would it be wrong of me to send another offer since he’s just unhappy with the videos performance, not the actual video? I include one revision that I would’ve been happy to do at the start if he actually disliked something specific or was looking for a different type of video, but I don’t think it’s right for him to change his mind about the video just because it’s not getting as much interaction. Am I in the wrong, should I just recreate an entirely new video free of charge? I appreciate any advice!

Hello dear @mandytriple9 I hope you're well and as I see your buyer wanted a free of work or maybe not but my opinion will be contact with him/her and tell him that you both think that this idea will work and now it's not so let's make another UGC video and this time reduce the charge and give him an offer, hope this will work 😇

With all honesty, it's not your fault at all that the UGC video is not getting much traction. You did your part and he liked it. But here is the thing. If you ask any graphic designer, they will most likely create more than one design (for a buyer who ordered a single design) just in case the client is not satisfied with a standalone designs. If I were you, I would only create another video free of charge if the client hasn't yet left a review or if the order hasn't been marked as complete. But remember, they can still leave a negative private review so it's still a risk. If the order hasn't been marked as complete yet, it would be in your best interest to create another video for free. All the best.

Hello @jaki_editor, creating it for a discounted price is a great idea, thank you so much for your advice!

Hi @dennis_corey, you make a good point that in other realms it’s normal to make multiple versions for a client. The order has been marked as complete and he already left a review but I do worry about him trying to change the review or requesting a refund. I think I will create the video for a discounted price but this time make two versions ahead of time in case he’s not satisfied with one. I appreciate you taking the time to give me advice! Thank you!
