Does it help a seller to get buyers by linking to other social media?

hi everyone

I am a new seller on Fiverr, does it help to share your gig on other social media sites ? I’m not the most tech savy person besides what’s app, facebook and twitter are there any other social media sites you can suggest where I can direct buyers to my gig on Fiverr with some success ? any recommendations on this will be appreciated.
Also it says to check buyer requests does this mean buyers request a service and you can offer your services then it is up to them whom they choose, like how does this work ?
