I don't know if this is why @Yoav.M was on a mission to see what Fiverr could offer in terms of helping the psychological health of Fiverr freelancers, but I did bring up how badly this impacts us. My approach was how Fiverr could change Fiverr, and I'm not sure if that was the direction they wanted to go.

Mandy, I'm glad you're speaking out about this, and I hope that Fiverr will have a look at their policies. They need to understand how their policies and practices impact freelancers. Whether it is Ai or something, still there must be an explanation idk. We have to keep going, what else we can do.

I'm wondering if a 4.3 rating like the one you had would put someone in the dungeon--assuming their private review, which has more weight, was the same and not worse. Maybe someone else has more insight.

All I know is that my 1-star review put me in the dungeon for about 5 months, and that whole time I was not really aware of how the algorithm worked (even though it's still mysterious). I did everything you did, frantically, and it took a lot of time and energy. I wish there would've been some sort of notification of duration of stay in the dungeon. It was such a bad mental space to be in, not knowing no matter how awesome I made everything...it wouldn't matter.

At any rate, I hope that your duration is coming to an end soon. Although, it gets slow for the holidays. 😞

Edit: by "in the dungeon" I mean that you are not given exposure on the platform for a certain amount of time.

    Hey @mandyzines,

I'm in the same boat. I had a 5-star rating, but then I got a 4.3 from a buyer who was happy with the work but not very clear from the start and demanded more. They gave a positive review but with a 4.3-star rating. Since then, I've only gotten two more orders in the month of August, and there's been almost no client reach ever since. I'm getting more and more depressed and demotivated, because I don't understand how the algorithm works.

It's a tough time for me, but I'm still trying to get through it by following all the rules, being online almost 18 hours a day, and even creating two new gigs. But it's still barren. The only order I got this month was from one of my regular buyers.

I don't know what else to do. 😞

If you had an opportunity: What questions would you ask your future self?

I think I wouldn't really ask anything, but I would just be proud of what I have achieved in life, with the love of my life. I would be proud of the things I have accomplished personally and professionally. I would be proud of my relationships with my family and friends. And I would be proud of the love I have found with my partner.

I think it would be a very emotional experience to meet my future self. I would be curious to see what my life has become. But I think also a little bit sad because I would know that my future self is getting older and that my time is limited.

I haven't been on an actual vacation in decades. My family tries to discover some interesting local spots to explore when it's not too hot, though. We all hate the heat!

This is kinda relatable, haha. We usually prefer to explore local spots or another city nearby, all that matters in the end is being with our loved ones and spending time with them. Sometimes, I wish I could go to a silent place by the seaside, the light rays of the morning sun on my face and some good food and drinks. Sounds heavenly, no?

I like to eat raw garlic and cheese on toast, but only when I don't need to see anyone.

Oh, I love love love garlic as long as they're fried, or baked, spreading on a toast with a lil seasoning of salt and tomatoes.

I usually add garlic to everything, kinds of pasta, cheese garlic toast and

the fun fact is almost every Pakistani food is incomplete without adding ginger garlic paste, haha.

  6. Not as interesting and unique as others but still, this is all I could remember 😅

1- I once discreetly tossed a meat chunk my mama fed me. It just wasn't my thing. Oops, sorry, Mom!

2- College days: Fell hard from a bus, but stood up like a boss because everyone was watching!

3- Nights are my jam! I hate sleeping at night; I'm most productive and alive when the moon is up.

4-Pasta is my ultimate obsession. I could eat it every day without getting tired of it!

5-Despite my strong appearance, losing people really scares me. I'm not as tough as I seem.

6- I swing between extremes – super lazy or hyperactive. No middle ground for me!

Did I handle it the right way? Or should I have bent and significantly dropped my price?

I believe you have handled the situation exceptionally well, and ultimately, it is the buyer's decision whether to choose us or not.

Recently, a buyer contacted me inquiring about a complete branding tool kit and proposed an extremely low price. It was disheartening to receive such an offer. However, the buyer later approached me again, expressing dissatisfaction with the work done by another designer. I responded politely, providing my price, and the buyer agreed to pay me the full amount.

Ps. Always trust your instincts and do not undervalue your work. By doing this, you may get less number of buyers but probably the good ones.

Can I offer my clients a sample video with watermark before they place an order.

Absolutely! Providing clients with a sample video that includes a watermark is a fantastic way to show off your skills and give them a taste of what you can do. Also, try building a portfolio to showcase your abilities and skills.

    7 hours ago, mhamza_editor said:

Is that against TOS or I can do this??

As long as the watermark is clearly visible and the intention is solely to showcase your abilities, it's generally considered an acceptable practice.

He might be trying to start a discussion where he'd give the answers and show his expertise (because some guru told him that was the way to promote his services).

Haha, I love this straightforward approach 😄 but he's seriously too much.

  10. Hey fellow Fiverr friend, I think instead of going to physical destinations, I'll be exploring the vast online world, discovering new design trends, and bringing imaginative ideas to life through my work. Or maybe spend a few days at my granny's place 😃

  11. If you want to check if a seller's reviews on Fiverr are reliable without wasting money on a trial order, you can try doing these-

    • Check a variety of reviews from different times and ratings to get a broader view
    • Talk to the seller and see how well they communicate and understand your needs

  12. I believe we all have experienced a mix of challenging and rewarding experiences, with memorable orders and requests that leave a lasting impact. However, there might be also navigating competition, and managing expectations. And it is simple not relevant to use 'bed of roses' as if people here are earning just by pressing a button lol

  13. While it's not recommended to directly ask for reviews, in my experience, if you genuinely believe it could improve things, you can politely request feedback from your clients. Consider saying something like, "Thank you for reaching out! If you're open to it, I'd greatly appreciate hearing about your experience. If you have a moment, would you mind sharing your thoughts at the order panel? Your feedback helps me enhance my services." This approach allows clients to provide feedback voluntarily without feeling pressured, and it's perfectly fine if some choose not to leave a review.

  14. Ah, that's a tough one! It's hard to choose just one favorite healthy food when there are so many delicious options out there. But if I had to pick, I'd say roasted veggies in a chicken broth. Yum!

How to rank the gig? 😀 I have adopted many methods. I have given gigs by maintaining many things. Even if the impressions come, the click does not come, and even if the click comes, the order does not come! My journey on Fiverr will be more than 6 months. I'm almost disappointed. 😪 In 6 months, Only received an order yesterday.

Here are my 7 days' clicks & Impressions. Category: Data Entry, Web Research, Lead Generation.

Note: I will shift to a new category of service, after ending my Final Year examination.

    Screenshot 2023-03-03 120524.png

1.9k impressions with no clicks, which means you should optimize your gig. Please review your gig image maybe or description and another reason for not getting any clicks is the pricing.

I saw that you had 1.9K impressions in 7 days on one gig, which is incredible. That means Fiverr is showing you to buyers and you are getting seen. However, if there are no clicks, that means something on your gig card is not attractive to buyers. So make changes to your thumbnail, title, and prices so that you are attractive to buyers and they will want to click on your gig. One of the biggest things about your gig card is that your titles are too long - buyers can't read the whole title just by looking at your gig card (they have to hover over the title to see it ....most buyers won't do that).

If buyers are clicking on your gigs but not placing orders, that means they looked at what you had to offer and decided not to buy. Instead, they moved on to another seller and placed an order with them. So you have to create value for your buyers so that they'll want to order.

This (from your gig description) does not create value:

This (from your gig descriptions) does create value:

This is because you are talking about your buyer's pain points and you are showing how you are the solution to their problem. Please include more of this type of writing in your gig description. The more you can show how you will take care of your customers and solve their problems, the better chance you have at getting orders.

I also noticed that you don't have any portfolio samples of your work or what you can do. You have 3 pictures, 2 PDFs, and a gig video that you can add to each gig. Use these to show off your skill and how you will help your buyers.

Such a detailed and insightful review. We need more ppl like you on this platform 😊

Disclaimer: I'm okay! And this is for entertainment purposes only haha

I think this is hilarious and exhausting as well. I recall receiving a message from a buyer inquiring me to contact him outside of the Fiverr platform. After I reported them, they somehow found a way to contact me through social media, which was incredibly tiring.

  18. Hello! That's a great question and a fascinating topic. I think it depends on the situation. If I am trying to reach a large audience, I would likely prefer to write my message. Writing allows me to craft my message carefully, be sure that it is clear, and it can reach a lot of people quickly. On the other hand, if I am trying to reach a smaller audience, speaking may be better. Speaking allows me to connect with the audience in a more personal way, and I can tailor my message to the specific audience. It also allows for more flexibility since I can adjust my message as I go. Ultimately, I think it comes down to understanding the situation and choosing the method that will best help me deliver my message.
