Guidance Needed: Commissioning Music Similar to an Existing Track for YouTube

Question

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a project where I need a piece of music that has a similar feel to a specific song, but it needs to be an original composition to avoid copyright issues. Here's my situation:

  • I want to use this new music in a YouTube video.
  • I've found a composer on Fiverr who has agreed to create an original piece that is similar in style but will use different chords and instruments.
  • The composer assured me that the music would be original and not registered in YouTube's Content ID system, meaning it shouldn't trigger any copyright claims.

My questions are:

  • What specific documentation should I ask from the composer to ensure I can safely use this music on YouTube without facing copyright claims?
  • Is there anything else I need to be aware of when using a custom-composed piece that's inspired by another song?

Any advice or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your help!
