How much effective social media clicks for a Gig?

I often see that many sellers share their gigs in social media like facebook, twitter to get clicks and views. Even they ask to others to click on their gig's link. I didn't think it before. But I noticed that many senior sellers who encourage others to do it. I'm very interested to know what the members of this forum think about this matter.
