How to open source files?

I have ordered designs from three different sellers. Each time I have requested svg. files and source files which they have delivered. I can open the svg. files. But, the other file I cannot open. I download it and get a message saying The PostScript file “1.ai-7.ps” could not be converted to a PDF file." What does that mean and why does it happen with each gig from different artists?

Here are other downloads: unicorn_outline.ai.ps
Or: patternTracyBlue.ai.ps

Why is the .ps always following the .ai? How do I change it to just .ai?
