When I first started on Fiverr back in 2020, I had just left my job in the fashion industry. I was craving more creativity, more freedom, and something that truly felt like mine. I’d run my own Shopify e-commerce store for about five years, so I already understood the platform, but freelancing was completely new to me. It was also the middle of COVID, and like many people at the time, I was trying to figure out what was next.
My very first gig on Fiverr was a Shopify CRO audit for five US dollars. Looking back, that tiny gig was the moment everything shifted for me. It allowed me to build trust with clients, get those early reviews, learn how to communicate well, and slowly grow my presence. That same service that once cost the price of a coffee now sells for $250 USD, and it’s evolved so much. What used to be a two-page PDF with suggestions has turned into a full 40 minute video audit, where I walk clients through their websites, show examples from multi-million-dollar brands, and give strategic, actionable advice based on years of experience. It’s more refined, more valuable, and far more impactful than what I began with, because I have grown with it.
As more orders came in, I reached a point where I realized I simply couldn’t do everything on my own anymore. I think this moment happens to a lot of freelancers, and for me it came pretty early. Emotionally, I was excited but also overwhelmed. Professionally, I knew I had reached the limit of what I could offer with my skill set alone. I’m not a developer; I was great with design, UX, branding, and communication, but anything technical was outside my capabilities. Very quickly I realised that if I wanted to keep delivering real results for clients, I needed to bring in someone who could fill that gap.
So I started outsourcing the roles I wasn’t skilled in, beginning with development. My very first developer was someone I hired on another freelance platform. I got incredibly lucky; he took initiative, he cared, and he’s now my full-time senior developer, still with me today. That was my first big lesson in team building: the right person elevates everything. The wrong person slows everything down. And sometimes it takes several tries to find that “right fit.”
From that moment, things began to change quickly. The work got better. The results got better. My confidence grew. And that’s when Just Create It was born. What started as me freelancing alone has now grown into an award-winning creative agency with an incredible remote team. We specialize in Shopify website design, branding, and development, and our projects now range from $100 to $15,000+ USD depending on the scope.
Growing a remote team has been one of the most rewarding and challenging parts of this journey. To stay productive and connected, we rely heavily on Slack, which has honestly been a game-changer. We organize all our conversations into channels, invite clients into shared project channels, and keep everything transparent and collaborative. Clear communication is one of our biggest values, no egos, no confusion, no assumptions. Just clarity and kindness. That’s how we stay aligned, even across multiple countries and time zones.
It has taken almost six years to build what I have today, and I’m genuinely grateful that the growth was slow and steady. I wouldn’t have been ready for rapid overnight success. The pace allowed me to learn, refine, make mistakes, improve systems, and figure out who I wanted to be as a business owner. Fiverr gave me the exposure and opportunities I needed to build something sustainable and it completely changed the course of my life.
Here are a few of the lessons I’ve learned along the way:
Outsource what you don’t know.
You can’t be great at everything. Outsourcing early allowed me to deliver a higher-quality service and scale without drowning.
Build your prices slowly but strategically
Every time your skills increase, your reviews grow, or your process improves, your value rises. Charge accordingly. The best clients respect this.
Consistency beats speed
You don’t need to explode overnight. Showing up consistently creates a foundation that lasts.
Keep learning and evolving
Your first gig isn’t your final destination. You grow through doing.
Imposter syndrome is part of the journey
Everyone doubts themselves. The only way to build confidence is through action.
You don’t need a degree to succeed.
I don’t have a formal university degree in design or business. My strength has always been creativity, attention to detail, and connecting with people. Find your superpower and lead with that.
The right people will change everything.
Hiring is trial and error. Don’t be discouraged if the first few aren’t the right fit. When you find the right person, you’ll know.
If I could give one piece of advice to anyone just starting out, it’s this: start before you feel ready.
You don’t need permission, a perfect plan, or a piece of paper, you just need to begin.
