I am Josh Okungbaiye, a Top Rated Seller and a Vetted Pro on Fiverr. I specialise in Digital Marketing Consultations and creating UGC videos to help take brands to the next level. I’ve been on Fiverr for nine years - in fact, I joined back in 2016 while on a trip to Thailand. Although I am based in London, UK, I have worked with companies all over the world thanks to Fiverr.
My Digital Marketing Consultation work initially started as a side hustle. Yet, the orders kept coming and increasing over the years; my work has since snowballed into a business that has generated over $180,000. I never thought in my wildest dreams that my work on Fiverr would transform into a six-figure business. Not only did Fiverr make this possible, but it also helped me build a wonderful career where I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing and influential brands in the world.
Before I went full-time into freelancing, I worked at a marketing agency in London. While there, I learned valuable lessons that enabled me to be a better marketer and make a real impact on businesses. These lessons included learning how to scale businesses to grow their revenue and managing huge marketing budgets ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions. I also gained powerful insights into customer behaviour and data that inform marketing and content strategies to attract customers. These lessons have transformed how I help my clients reach new heights. The marketing world is ever-changing, but my exposure enabled me to keep my finger on the pulse of the industry so I can continue to give value to my clients. It has truly been life-changing.
Since joining Fiverr, I have made sure to do every job like it was my last. This mentality ensures I give all my clients 100%. I learned how to structure my business and create a smooth process for both myself and my clients. When my business exploded during and after Covid, I already had the systems in place, so I was prepared to deliver high-quality work without feeling overwhelmed. Building the foundation of a great Fiverr profile and having a solid track record is crucial. I remember starting on Fiverr on an old laptop while traveling; now, I have a massive client base. I was even able to buy my first property in London. Fiverr truly changed my life and has given me true freedom - which is incredible in this economy!
If you are starting out on Fiverr, I recommend the following:
- Go above and beyond for your clients. If you do this, they are less likely to forget you and will be more open to referring you to their peers.
- Clear communication is vital. It is important to set your client’s expectations and make them aware of what your deliverables are, set realistic timelines, and provide the details of your work. This strengthens trust and makes working together a lot more streamlined.
- If you spot gaps outside of your expertise, don’t be afraid to refer other Fiverr sellers to help them. Many business owners wear many hats; if you can offer that extra support, it strengthens your working relationship. You almost become a partner in their success.
I’m writing this as I wait to board a flight to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Before I board, I want to mention that Fiverr is a powerful platform that can change your life, finances, and career. It requires dedication and a commitment to doing great work, because great work always speaks for you, even when you aren’t there. We are all on the same journey, and you are not alone.
