  1. I would welcome the feature. There is no way that some of the shady sellers I've come across have authentic reviews and it's about time buyers can provide a real review even with a cancellation - at least in stars if comments are not allowed. The sham sellers, mostly what seem to be from India and Pakistan and often hiding under false locations, operate in teams of several people and have several accounts. They write fake reviews for their own gigs...

I do understand thou that authentic sellers who may once in a while end with bad buyers, and pointlessly get bad reviews maybe over a misunderstanding will feel unfairly treated. Maybe the star review without comment is an 50/50 solution for both problems?

I agree with majority of your points. However, I disagrees with you on the below points.

While it may possible in a few cases/project(mostly repetitive ones) but with complex/custom tasks this is a disaster. I personally do not accept any work if a buyer provides vague and incomplete details on his/her project or they are in a bit hurry to just get the project started.

I personally don't want to, but I have to in certain situations. Sometimes buyers place an order for an airplane, even though the gig clearly states that the product is a car. To prevent any misunderstandings in such cases, many sellers choose to include the above phrase.

Many sellers also don't like to leave a negative review. I've personally never left a bad review, even though one time I had a buyer who ordered a custom software product without knowing how to install software on a computer, despite me providing a step-by-step PDF/video guide.

There's always some exceptions. And some work does require more communications, but not the work I buy on Fiverr.

I would say around 50% of work I've purchased on Fiverr repeats the points I mentioned. The good ones are fantastic and I usually buy more than one gig from them.

And I can't stand when they keep calling me "bro" all the time. I mean, can't they at least try to be professional even if it's Fiverr.

I've seen some discussion about this topic and I'm curious. Should you ask your client to leave a review after the delivery? Is it worth subtly mentioning that their feedback would be helpful? I've seen people saying that one should not mention reviews or feedback in their messages as it might trigger a warning and I've seen people suggesting otherwise. I'm leaning towards not mentioning it, but I am curious what are your thoughts.

I'm a buyer, and I don't see anything wrong with a seller messaging me a few days later to see if I'm still satisfied with the work and if I mind leaving a review. Because Fiverr already asks and reminds sellers to leave reviews, I'd recommend waiting maybe two days.

I appreciate it when buyers provide more personal information, such as stating that not all buyers leave reviews, despite the fact that leaving a review has an impact on a seller's ranking on Fiverr.  This actually motivates me to feel the need to help out.

  4. I just wanted to share some of my Fiverr buying experiences in the past five years and what basic points you should avoid if you want to get consistent 5-stars and gigs on Fiverr:

    1. You identify as "Mandy" from "Germany" in your profile but are actually Apana from India. That significantly diminishes the credibility of anything you do or say after that point.

    2. Chat-show: You chat incessantly rather than getting to the point. Moving forward is time-consuming and wasteful. I don't have time to be a chat-buddy. I may be at work, or on a break with limited time to chat with you. All I require is the completion of a job task. I don't want to spend 1.5 hours on chats to move forward, or get 10 different messages about how you couldn't open a file because you only used your phone and didn't bother to do it the right way—on your computer.

In fact, the best sellers take only 10 minutes to chat and simply ask what I need, tell me if they can do it or not, provide the gig offer, and move on. They do not divide questions into fragments of 500 messages. That entire 10-minute interaction contains everything.

    3. Haggling: You offer a clear description of a gig, but when I book it, I am confronted with haggling that is 10 times the gig price... Or, if you write, "Contact me before buying the gig," I know the listing is a bait and you're there to haggle over the price.

    4. A stream of messages asking why I didn't take up on your gig after I tell you that I am sorry, and don't need it anymore. It may not be anything else than someone beat you to it, or I had a change of mind.

    5. Nagging: I don't need to be reminded 15 times in 10 minutes to pay for your gig while I prepare files for you.

    6. Not reading your requirements: I've lost track of how many sellers don't read all of the requirements I fill out for your gig. When all the details are added to the requirements, the repeated messages asking what the "login is?" when it's all there in the requirement description gets pretty tedious and reflects on your ability to complete a task.

    7. I've given you very simple step-by-step instructions that a 5-year old can understand, and you still don't bother to read them and do sloppy work and miss out on some of the job tasks. Several times.

    8. Even if I had a bad experience, I don't like to leave negative reviews as a buyer. I don't want to hurt your business or cause Fiverr to move your listing down the queue. In fact, I frequently give 5 stars even when the gig is only worth 3 stars. So, the few times (2) I give less than 5-star ratings and get abusive messages for the lower rating, definitely won't win an edit in the rating or more gigs.

In other words, be straightforward and honest in your listings. Pay attention to the description of the job tasks and do your best.

I hope this will help some of the sellers.  🙂
