Ask the Community

Hi All, 

 I'd love to hear from those of you more experienced on the platform. I've reached out to customer support, but their initial response has been pretty generic ("continue communicating" and "add value").
 
A client reached out to me for a voice over project. He talked me down on price, and he practically begged me to finish it sooner than my advertised turn around time. We finally met at a place we both agreed on. 

 I did the work. All completely recorded, edited, and mastered by me. After I delivered the files, the buyer asked for a revision. He was unhappy with the tone of the piece. I would have been happy to redo it (I include a free revision, and often provide much more than 1 free revision to make sure clients are happy). And with voice over, sometimes that first take just isn't right. Except, before I could respond to his revision request, he said he changed his mind and just wanted the order a cancelled. He then went on to insult me, saying I was lying on my gig, and that the VO was AI generated. 

 I responded very calmly and professionally, explaining it wasn't AI, I'd be happy to redo it, etc. etc. At every turn, he just refuses to accept any solution other than the complete, 100%, refund of his order. 

 The order has now been sitting "In Revision" and Past Due for 2 days. I don't know what to do. The clock is ticking, showing that I'm late, despite me having delivered the work (and patiently waiting for CS to help me resolve). 

 I'd love to hear your advice.
 
A couple of points in closing: 
I know I should have sent him a sample before recording the entire script. I typically do, and don't know why on earth I didn't think to do it this time. Live and learn...
 Secondly, I wouldn't typically insist someone pay for work they are unhappy with (not that this has happened before). Honestly, if he'd just said, "this isn't working for me", I'd have been much more open to the refund. But he came out swinging, calling me a liar, saying my gig is fake, that I used AI to generate the work. It's making me feel less than generous about not getting paid for the hours I put in to this.
