I've been beta reading here for five years. Over the past couple of weeks I have been flooded by messages from people who seem to think that I hire people and pay them for beta reading work. All the requests are coming from Brazil. I'm getting upwards of thirty such requests a day. I have been asking them who is referring them - most don't answer; a few have said they saw a tutorial video on TikTok about how to make money on the internet but nobody's provided me with the link. 

Dealing with these requests is a major distraction. I have never solicited or used subcontractors and I don't really understand what's going on. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
