Ask the Community

 in the past five years and what basic points you should avoid if you want to get consistent 5-stars and gigs on Fiverr: 

1. You identify as "Mandy" from "Germany" in your profile but are actually Apana from India. That significantly diminishes the credibility of anything you do or say after that point. 

2. Chat-show: You chat incessantly rather than getting to the point. Moving forward is time-consuming and wasteful. I don't have time to be a chat-buddy. I may be at work, or on a break with limited time to chat with you. All I require is the completion of a job task. I don't want to spend 1.5 hours on chats to move forward, or get 10 different messages about how you couldn't open a file because you only used your phone and didn't bother to do it the right way—on your computer. 

In fact, the best sellers take only 10 minutes to chat and simply ask what I need, tell me if they can do it or not, provide the gig offer, and move on. They do not divide questions into fragments of 500 messages. That entire 10-minute interaction contains everything. 

3. Haggling: You offer a clear description of a gig, but when I book it, I am confronted with haggling that is 10 times the gig price... Or, if you write, "Contact me before buying the gig," I know the listing is a bait and you're there to haggle over the price. 

4. A stream of messages asking why I didn't take up on your gig after I tell you that I am sorry, and don't need it anymore. It may not be anything else than someone beat you to it, or I had a change of mind. 

5. Nagging: I don't need to be reminded 15 times in 10 minutes to pay for your gig while I prepare files for you. 

6. Not reading your requirements: I've lost track of how many sellers don't read all of the requirements I fill out for your gig. When all the details are added to the requirements, the repeated messages asking what the "login is?" when it's all there in the requirement description gets pretty tedious and reflects on your ability to complete a task. 

7. I've given you very simple step-by-step instructions that a 5-year old can understand, and you still don't bother to read them and do sloppy work and miss out on some of the job tasks. Several times. 

8. Even if I had a bad experience, I don't like to leave negative reviews as a buyer. I don't want to hurt your business or cause Fiverr to move your listing down the queue. In fact, I frequently give 5 stars even when the gig is only worth 3 stars. So, the few times (2) I give less than 5-star ratings and get abusive messages for the lower rating, definitely won't win an edit in the rating or more gigs. 

In other words, be straightforward and honest in your listings. Pay attention to the description of the job tasks and do your best.
