Buyer’s guide: understanding Fiverr’s payment process
Ready to invest in turning your dreams into reality? We get it: when you're putting your money on the line, you want to be sure it's safe, secure, and protected. That’s why we’ve created this quick guide to walk you through how payments work on Fiverr so that you can feel confident every step of the way. Let’s dive in!

Initial payment

Each order will need to be initiated with a payment before your freelancer can start your project. In addition to the price of your freelancer’s service, the total cost of your order will include taxes and service fees. Also, if you decide to pay in your local currency there may be an additional conversion fee, which fluctuates daily according to exchange rates.
To complete your payment, we offer several different methods depending on your device and country of residence. This includes but is not limited to, credit/debit card, Apple and Google Pay, Paypal, and your existing Fiverr Balance.

During the order

Once you pay, the money is immediately deducted from your account, but the freelancer does not receive it immediately. Instead, we hold this money in escrow until the order is completed. This allows time for the seller to deliver the service and for you to review the final product.
When the freelancer delivers the work, you have three days to accept it or request revisions. If you don’t respond within three days, the order will be marked as Auto-Completed. After the order is confirmed completed, you’ll have a 14-day grace period during which you can request a cancellation if any issues arise. Sellers are usually compensated at the end of this grace period.

So what if things go wrong?

If the delivery doesn’t meet your expectations, we recommend asking your freelancer for revisions. If things still don’t work out, you can request a refund.
  • Partial Refunds: If the order is still in progress but you and the freelancer are struggling to get on the same page, this could be a good option. Partial refunds can be requested in the Resolution Center and can only be initiated by the freelancer. This form of refund requires a mutual agreement between the freelancer and the customer.
  • Full Refunds : If you prefer to cancel the entire order, you’ll need to reach out to customer support. If they deem the order eligible, the money will be refunded to your Fiverr balance, which can be used for future purchases. From there, you can request the funds to be returned to your original payment method.
It’s important to note, if you’re dissatisfied with a delivery due to personal taste rather than a lack of quality, the order may not always be eligible for cancelation. We evaluate cases carefully to ensure fairness to freelancers.
After the 14-day grace period, if issues pop up with your order you may still reach out to Customer Support. Though we won’t be able to cancel the order, we may be able to offer Fiverr credits as a courtesy for your bad experience. These credits can only be used on the platform and cannot be refunded to your payment provider.
Tipping If you’re happy with your order and you want to show your freelancer an extra token of appreciation, you may leave a tip at the end of the order. Tipping is a separate transaction and will therefore incur an additional service fee. Fiverr takes 20% of all transactions, including tips.
