I'm a first-time seller and just posted my very first gig. Within 2–3 minutes, not one, not two, not three—no—I was contacted by eight (yes, EIGHT) scammers, all hitting me with the same ridiculous scheme: they claimed they couldn’t pay me because I hadn’t linked my PayPal, then asked for my PayPal directly. And honestly, at first, it almost sounded plausible.

Now I have to ask—why the hell does Fiverr allow new gigs to go live without requiring sellers to set up a payout method first? Who thought that was a good idea? It makes zero sense and leaves new users wide open to scams.

As for those scammers, all eight sent near-identical messages with links and PNG files via email, pushing obvious phishing attempts. Fortunately, I was running a virtual machine and wiped everything afterward. But the fact that this even happened?

Fiverr is making it way too easy for these scammers.

They're allowed to send files—who knows what kind of malware might be in them.

The platform's security is shockingly weak, and honestly, this level of negligence is completely unacceptable.
