I wanted to share a recent experience I had with backlinks and SEO, hoping it might help fellow Fiverr buyers and business owners avoid similar pitfalls. 

Recently, one of our articles was published on a home improvement website. At first, it seemed like a great opportunity—getting a backlink from a relevant site should help with SEO, right? However, I later noticed that the publisher had added a completely unrelated link to a 

 on the word "bathtub" within the article. When I questioned it, the person responsible claimed it was an "inside backlink" and that it was 

 – Search engines like Google consider link relevance when ranking websites. A random restaurant link on a page about bathtubs raises red flags. 

 – If a site engages in unnatural linking practices (like inserting random business links in unrelated content), Google might see it as spammy, which can negatively impact rankings. 

There’s No Such Thing as an "Inside Backlink"

 – This was clearly a made-up term to justify a questionable SEO practice. There are 

 (links from other sites), but this wasn't either. 

 – If Google detects unnatural link behavior, it can devalue your website or even issue a penalty. 

Beware of Backlink Packages Sold on Fiverr and Similar Platforms

 – Some sellers offer add-ons where they publish 

your link inside 10 different articles on various sites for $100

. While these articles might be on legitimate, high DA sites, the issue is that the 

articles themselves are often irrelevant to your content

. This creates an unnatural backlink profile that Google can interpret as manipulation, leading to 

either the linked page losing ranking power or, in repeated cases, your entire site being penalized

. Instead of benefiting your ranking, this practice 

turns your efforts and investment into a liability

Use SEO tools (Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, etc.)

If you’re unsure about a backlink’s impact, ask an SEO expert before accepting it.

I requested the removal of the irrelevant link, only to be met with the false claim that it was an "internal backlink" meant to boost rankings. Despite my concerns, the link remained in the published article, leaving me in a difficult position. 

If I refuse to accept the delivery and request a refund, I forfeit the opportunity to leave a review warning others about this deceptive practice. However, if I accept the delivery, I can leave feedback to warn others—but at the cost of losing both my article and my hard-earned money. 

In the aftermath of this ordeal, I’ve taken several steps to protect my site: 

 to ensure no further spammy links appear. 

Being more cautious with third-party publications

, always reviewing the final version before it goes live. 

 using Google’s Disavow Tool to prevent potential damage to my SEO ranking.
